We were two weeks ago for 3-4 days in the Cortijo La Hoya and I must say that it was a perfect opportunity to come down from everyday stress and relax. Because the accommodation is a bit isolated (please pay attention to the last kilometers, because the road is not paved), you have the chance to be a bit on your own. We were most impressed by the breathtaking view of the Strait of Gibraltar and Africa. The garden is also very beautiful and about the dogs I would like to say that they really sweetened our few days there. The dogs are up for any fun and incredibly adorable. In summary, I can really highly recommend the accommodation. Thank you for the great hospitality!

We were staying in the Commander's House, a typical Andalucian house surrounded by cork forest.. It was next to the swimming pool (not open in March) with a large shaded garden and seating area outside. The house was very comfortable and would be a cool haven in the hot summer months. We had travelled to this area to photograph bird migrations from Africa and we were made to feel very welcome. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful and even gave us free coffee at the little cafe on the first day as a welcome gift. The area is full of birds - on the feeders and flying overhead. We also followed a beautiful path through the corkwoods towards the sea and with views over Gibraltar in one direction and Africa the other. This is a wonderful area for birdwatching and you can be sure of a friendly welcome if you stay here.

What a dreamplace. The host contacted us right after the booking was done to provide a detailed description telling us how to get to the place. The last 5-10 min are a dirt road. High clearance is recommended, but no precondition. We rented a T-Roc, which was suitable. Marcos as well was very caring during our stay, checking in between if all was ok. The studio is right at the water. It is a basic studio, but it has all you need to survive. The pictures in the app show the reality and 100% of what you get. There is not much neighbourhood and most of what you hear is the rooster next door or the Levante wind passing the Strait of Gibraltar. A very silent place and we loved relaxing by just watching and tracking the many ships passing by (Download of the app VesselFinder is recommended). Having breakfast or a sunset dinner outside and watching over to Morocco is just priceless. We even had the chance to see whales just sitting out there having a beer. Tarifa old town is just a 30min hike along the coastal hiking path. Nice town, many bars and restaurants. We spent a daytrip to Sevilla, another one to Cadiz. Gibraltar is just 50 min away and we also took the ferry to Tangier for an overnight stay. Much to do, but just sitting in the garden for us was like a Zen meditation. The ultimate place to be for everyone who wants to escape from the usual live. Almost like another planet.

In my case I was in this villa for work and the truth is that everything was great, the climate inside the house is perfect, the wifi is very fast and they have a huge table where you can work comfortably. It is a place where you are easily inspired and it helps you find work solutions and new projects thanks to the incredible views and the cozy house. In addition, the outdoor table and the sunbed area is a very comfortable and quiet place to continue working or simply disconnect. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious, mine even had a dressing room and a seating area with a table and chairs. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this house 100% for those who are looking for tranquility and inspiration in a unique place.
