Facing the seafront in Schliersee, Der Anderlbauer am See has a garden and barbecue facilities. The property features mountain and lake views, and is 39 km from Kufstein Fortress. We choose this place because it looked quiet and comfortable and we were not disappointed. We wanted to be within easy reach of the ski area at Spitzingsee and this was perfect as it's only 10 minutes up the road to the skiing. Our room has gorgeous views over the lake and at night we could see the lights of Schliersee town strung out along the lake edge. It was very beautiful. Our room (Primerl) had a small seating nook where I sat in the mornings looking out over the lake. Beautifully appointed room, simple but cosy, and incredibly comfortable beds. The area is incredibly quiet. There is a train line running alongside in the distance but the sound is very muted (and we sleep with the windows open) and I quite enjoyed the sight of the little train creeping along the lake by the forest and the call of its horn. Overall very idyllic.

Peacefully located a 5-minute drive from Bad Reichenhall, this family-run hotel has a lakeside terrace overlooking Lake Thumsee. Location and staff are simply unparalleled. What a wonderful week we have had in an amazing room. The views, the lake, the weather, the breakfast. It was a week in paradise for us. The quiet, the nature, the wonderful gardens. Superb. We tend not to revisit locations we've been to, but we would happily make an exception for Pension Hubertus. Just loved it.
