A very nice and comfortable place. The staff here are very friendly. The food was amazing. We had the crab and prawn curry and it was delicious. We can say that this was the best food we had in Sri Lanka. We liked it very much. We only spent one night. We will stay here again if we get the chance. We recommend this place to others.

The most decent owner I have encountered in Sri Lanka, he even tolerated me there up to the last moment even though he was closing the place for couple of days and I was the last guest to leave. He would arrange food or drinks, all brought asap. Location in Navalady is quite remote, but serene and beautiful.

The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. The hotel welcomes all new guests with flower necklaces and cool fruit drinks. The breakfast buffet options are numerous. We ordered a la carte lunch & dinner, and the food was always exceptional. (Note, the first night we wanted something that they didn’t have but they ordered it for the second night.) The room was ok, but all rooms come with a comfortable balcony to make up for what the room lacks. Also, the bathroom is about the same size as the room. The beach and the ocean are by far the main reason to come here. The warm ocean water is unparalleled and the hotel staff do a wonderful job keeping their section of the beach clean. The pool area is also nice, but we came for the beach and spent most of our time there. The kid space is lacking, but that’s ok as long as you aren’t there when it rains. Lastly, all the staff we encountered were professional. They helped arrange our departure taxi which actually was rather reasonably priced; meaning same price everyone seems to charge tourists 200 rupees per kilometer (rather than what locals pay which is like 120-150). Overall, I highly recommend staying here.

We were quite concerned on the way there because the trip was through some interesting but desolate terrain. What a great surprise. The property is beautiful and the staff and service were superb. The food was good too.
