There was good communication from the start, even though we booked about 2 hours before arrival and we don't speak that much French. The owner was extremely friendly, accommodating and served a wonderful breakfast, even gluten-free bread and cakes (homemade)! Great sauna experience, too.

We arrived at the accommodation early, but we were met and booked in by Isabelle, who is extremely helpful and a charming host. The room, at the top of a wooden spiral staircase, was well appointed with a refrigerator, microwave, plates and cutlery, should we wish to prepare meals in the room. The property is only 2 minutes from the central Medieval town centre and was exceptionally clean. The copious breakfast was very good with a great selection of items - cheese, meat, jam, bread, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and orange juice. We will definitely return here.

We loved it! The place has been fully renovated and redecorated by the owners and it looks stunning! The room was lovely, spacious, fully equipped, quiet and comfortable. You can park in the courtyard and the old city is 30 seconds away by foot. On top of that the owners are very friendly and the breakfast was fresh and varied with a complete offer of local and homemade products. Definitely a great place to stay if you are in the region.

We were travelling from Spain to The Netherlands and Les Malvaux was our overnight stay. We chose the location because we like B&B's while travelling (instead of hotels) and Les Malvaux is not far for from the Autoroute. Les Malvaux is very close to Montlucon, a medieval town if you like to do some sightseeing. For dining there are two good restaurants in the immediate vicinity (Huriel village) and of course plenty of restaurants and fast food places in Montlucon. Also in Montlucon, we filled up our petrol/gasoline engine car at the Leclerc supermarket for a really good/low price (yes, we are Dutch) compared to other petrol stations in the area and certainly a lot better than Autoroute stations. The room itself at Les Malvaux was spacious and comfortable, as was the common area. The common area has a large sitting area and a kitchen. It was extremely quiet at night and there is ample parking space for cars. Breakfast was really good, especially the freshly baked bread and the home made yoghurt and marmelade/jam. Last but certainly not least, the host was very friendly and forthcoming. A really nice place to stay!
