Allison and Ron were such kind and lovely hosts. The space was very comfortable with two couches, a gas fire place which I loved sitting next to and reading a book, and a nice dining area. The bed and bathroom were great as well. It was a short trip to the national park for the alpine crossing. They very kindly gave me the fixings to make sandwiches for my hike the next day. If you're in this area, I highly recommend staying here.

My partner and I stayed at the River Lodge during our Christmas/ summer holiday and it was EXCEPTIONAL. Cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The hosts are fantastic, great vibes all round! The included breakfast was delicious and we had all the amenities we needed. Well worth the price and experience away from a chain hotel. The setting is so green, relaxing and warm. We slept so well as it was so quiet. Highly recommend you stay here if you are planning to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - Dani can organise a direct shuttle to/from the track for you.

Lovely accommodation with fantastic views of the mountains. Top Class facilities with added bonus of hot tub. The breakfast was lovingly presented in a basket and everything you need was included. Great to set you up for the day! Location was easy walking access (about 10 minutes) into town for restaurants and bars. Chris was a great host. Very close to mountain trails.
