Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

We had a wonderful experience in North Sumatra thanks to Sumatra ethical expeditions and their crew. We spent two nights in the lodge and we did the 2D1N trek with our amazing guides Pika, Tenjong and Imuh. We will be forever grateful to them for taking such good care of us, for teaching us so much about the jungle and the animals, and for being so kind. I definitely recommend the experience. We were able to spot over 15 orangutans, many monkeys, including the Thomas leaf monkey and some gibbons, as well as hornbills (similar to toucans). The lodge is amazing, with a wonderful view of the nature surrounding this area. They provided us with transport service (shared or private) from Medan airport for a very good price. Breakfast is good as well as the dinner, all of it at great prices. The atmosphere is very calm and welcoming. Many thanks for such an unforgettable experience!!!

Objekt Hub Tata Guesthouse nalazi se u gradu 'Tuk Tuk' te nudi besplatan WiFi u cijelom objektu. U ponudi su razni sadržaji kao što su vrt, terasa i restoran. Lovely and cozy guesthouse. Fantastic food with great view to the lake. Very friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely come again.

Objekt JUNGLE LIFE GUEST HOUSE - Trekking & Transport Only Book With Us u gradu 'Bukit Lawang' nalazi se uz plažu, a ima bar. Property was clean and overlooked the river view. My stay was excellent, and I also booked the jungle trek with them. It was absolutely amazing, and it was their own business. So it was a small group. Ricky and Anto were great with taking care of us. You should really try this activity! It’s very very worth it, and rest assured you are in good hands.

Objekt Toba Boi nudi smještaj u gradu 'Tuk Tuk'. Privatni smještaj nudi pogled na planinu i terasu. U objektu Toba Boi sve sobe nude balkon s pogledom na jezero. Good host (Dong&Siska) for being so informative on suggesting where to go,where to take a ferry,they also provide bike rental.The room is nice and in front of the stay got a good cafe for me to find for breakfast,lunch or dinner..those solo traveller might like it because the cafe got live band performance twice a week and I didn't mind the noise coming for it honestly because I can still manage to sleep peacefully safe and sound due to the whole day spent moving around the island😂

Objekt SeaGate Bungalows nalazi se u gradu 'Sabang' te sadrži vrt, privatnu plažu, terasu ibesplatan WiFi u cijelom objektu. The hosts, Jujun and Borja are very kind and helpful persons. At the end, it was a bit sad to say goodbye to them. The room was very comfortable, we had everything what we needed. It has a big terrace, big enogh to do yoga or just relax comfortably. Their kitchen is very good, breakfast and dinner are available, but they also made lunch for us the day when we arrived and was very hungry. There are just a few bungalows, it's really cosy and private.

Objekt Bua Guest House nalazi se u gradu 'Medan', na 9,3 km od znamenitosti Velika džamija u Medanu, te nudi smještaj koji sadrži vrt, besplatno privatno parkiralište i terasu. It's just great to arrive here after a long flight. A very, very helpful staff will help you with all your questions. After leaving my card in the ATM, they took me to the city, waited for over an hour with me, then took me to another bank. I took up the entire morning of two people and their car due to my stupidity and just a tip was sufficient. It just feels so good to be helped like that. You just don't get that where I'm from. A clean and calm place to escape the busyness of Medan and I can recommend Bua to be your starting and exit point to beautiful Sumatra.

Objekt Sumatra Cheeky Monkeys u gradu 'Bukit Lawang' ima vrt, zajednički salon, terasu i bar. Ovaj objekt nudi obiteljske sobe i roštilj. The owner was so kind. Let me stay in a slightly more expensive room inside without paying the difference and got a ride back to the guesthouse from the city center at night. I wasn’t there for long but definitely felt it was a good deal for the price. It is pretty far from the center of butik lawang. You can walk it in 20min or get a tuktuk for 30rp. The walk is nice. You get to see another side to the area.
