Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). A really great place to stay. The tatami rooms are lovely, we had the most wonderful autumn colours right outside our window. Fabulous. We also really enjoyed the veg. Curry in the evening.

The guest house is beautiful. Our room too. The beds were comfortable and I could get a really good rest. They had great facilities, like the kitchen, instant hot water and coffee/tea/hot chocolat. We could do our laundry. Also they serve really good and affordable food, drinks and desserts at their gorgeous restaurant that was open during the day. They even have a Japanese garden with a Koi fish pond! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved everything about this place.

A great place at the start of the shimanami kaido. Lovely owner! The place is a bit older but very well kept and clean. The owner brought us to the bike rental place in the morning which was amazing. The futon was also nice and soft, and the rooms had AC (but we didnt need it in okt). He also has bikes available for rent that were high enough for me, which is rare in japan as im 198cm tall.

The host was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She helped us navigate rental of bikes, gave us good tips about our bike ride, and helped explain the local experience. The place was clean, spacious and had great location right on the beach. Waking up to the water view was amazing.

This place made us feel like we were really in Japan with tatami floors and shoji screens in a beautifully restored traditional house. The story of the restoration project is interesting too. We walked up to the temple and the observatory at the top of the hill, and explored the surrounding streets before going biking on the islands the next day. Wished we had stayed two nights instead of only one. The futons were comfortable and warm. Other guests were considerate and quiet. Facilities were clean.
