Staying at El Albergue Ollantaytambo was genuinely one of the best decisions we made on the trip, hands down. First off, the location is perfect. Ollantaytambo itself is a fascinating town with a history to match—it’s the only one still using the Inca grid system! Plus, it offers two great, fun treks: the ruins and the granaries. But the real boon is its position right AT the station, making it the ultimate base for Machu Picchu. Getting up a couple of hours earlier than everyone else for the trek is great, but there's nothing better than coming back and immediately checking in instead of having to deal with another grueling 2-4 hour bus ride back to Cusco. It's also much more comfortable being at 9,500 ft instead of the 11,500 ft elevation of Cusco. Beyond the incredible convenience, El Albergue is simply an exceptional hotel in its own right. The service is beyond reproach; everyone on the property was so incredibly friendly and attentive. It truly makes the entire experience. The rooms are impeccably designed and wonderfully comfortable. I have to specifically shout out the gorgeous art throughout the rooms and common areas—it’s stunning, and seemingly much of it is from the proprietor, Wendy Weeks. The on-site amenities are another huge plus. The restaurant has exceptional food, and breakfast starts early (6 a.m.) with a great variety. You absolutely MUST book the wonderful Pachamanca lunch beforehand. They also have a local coffee roastery and a distillery right there; we had a great tour at both and really enjoyed the products, especially the Matacuy. Oh, and there are the most adorable dogs on the property, too! Overall, El Albergue was one of our favorite stays in Peru. We had a great time and are genuinely looking forward to coming back.

Quiet location close to Plaza de Armas, clean & comfortable rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast. On a previous one night stay, I had posted about not being able to get change for taxi. The hotel approached me on my return stay to explain the reasons and to offer something in return. I appreciated the hotel’s efforts to explain and remedy, and although I did not take up the offer, it shows a very good attitude.

Hosteria de Anita is a lively family-run guest house in the artistic San Blass District, central Cuzco. The Hosteria is located very central, yet it is very quiet. The green yards and ample place to rest and enjoy a complimentary hot beverage was great. I was also able to leave my luggage free of charge at the Hosteria while taking a 4 day hike.

In Cusco´s San Blas art district, Amaru Inca is set in a colonial house with internal patio and garden, featuring scenic views. Very comfortable bed, nice bathroom with a really good hot shower. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. Excellent location.

This was the perfect stay for our first time visiting Cusco! Michael was so accommodating and made us feel right at home. He took the time explaining the history of the area and mapped out restaurant recommendations and the best things to see during our time. He prepared us packed breakfasts on the days we were not able to attend our included breakfast due to our early excursions. The sit down breakfast was home cooked made to order and so delicious. Room was perfect for us - clean, comfortable bed, hot shower, hot tea and bottled water on our floor was always stocked, wifi kept us connected. Our furry friend Cusi was an added bonus. Location was 5 min walk to restaurants and about a 10-15 min walk to downtown historic district. No issues from our travel tours picking us up from the property.

Great location, felt safe. Clean bathroom, enough space in room for luggage, good breakfast. Would definitely come again.

يقع مكان إقامة "Refugio de Mery Lucmabamba" في Sahuayacu على بُعد 17 كم من Huayna Picchu، و19 كم من محمية ماتشو بيتشو التاريخية، و19 كم من Manuel Chavez Ballon Museum. We stayed at the Refugio de Mery during the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. When we arrived, Mery offered us a very refreshing Maracuja juice ( the best I had during my stay in Peru!). They gave us a private room with a private bathroom, with a hot shower! ( It was the first place offering us such a treatment during the trek!). The place itself is breathtaking, particularly the terrace above the shop, where we could chill in an amaca resting from the walk. The food was amazing: the dinner was delicious, and everything was cooked at the moment ( an appetizer made with toasted bread with oil, lomo saltado, arroz, fried banana, vegetables). The best thing was undoubtedly the breakfast: handmade guacamole ( km 0, as they grow the avocado!), espresso coffee ( km 0 as well!), omelette, papaya juice, bread, cheese and honey! Such a lovely place, and the host and her family are the kindest people we met along the trek. We highly recommend this place if you're doing the Salkantay Trek.
