Read moreThe best time to visit Brazil is from September to October. This lets you avoid the busiest holiday periods, the harsh winters in the south, and the peak of the wet season. Brazil’s warmest months are also its wettest, so it’s generally best to avoid the high season between December and March, particularly if you’re planning on wildlife watching in the Amazon or the Pantanal, which are best visited between July and September. Rio’s world-famous Carnaval takes place in February or early March, and it’s without a doubt one of the most unforgettable parties you can attend. If you’re into windsurfing or kiteboarding, a trip to São Miguel do Gostoso, Taiba, or Cumbuco offer great conditions between May and February.

Monthly weather and travel tips for Brazil
It's the peak of summer in January, and with average temperatures around 80ºF, it’s certainly worth considering a trip to the beach. However, it can get very rainy this month so be sure to check forecasts and figure out whether you’ll need a beach towel or umbrella.
The maritime procession in Angra dos Reis onJanuary 1st is a great way to see in the new year, as thousands of boats parade along the water. Three Kings Day, celebrated on January6th, brings celebrations featuring musical performances and dancing to many cities across the country. The warm January weather means this is a prime time to visit Rio and Copacabana which offer a party atmosphere without the huge carnival crowds of February.

Brazil’s world-famous “Carnaval” celebrations sweep across the country and swarms of beachgoers compete for the best spots to lay their towels. Crowd levels peak in February, but if you’re content to jostle, you’ll be able to attend one of the best parties on the planet. The weather remains hot and rainy with scorching temperatures of up to 95ºF, so pack light layers and waterproofs.
Carnivals are held in lots of major cities like São Paulo and Salvador, but the most famous of all takes place in Rio de Janeiro. The event takes place in February or early March for the 5 days before Ash Wednesday. Join millions of partiers to watch the top dance schools in the country perform the samba during dazzling parades of colors, costumes, and music.

It’s still high season in most of Brazil as temperatures continue to hover around 100°F. Carnival celebrations may still be occurring in major cities if Ash Wednesday falls in March, so be prepared for extra crowds if so. If the latter celebration isn’t happening, this month can be more pleasant if you just want to explore different parts of the country, but the possibility of summer storms means you’ll want to pack waterproofs and a good umbrella along with light layers.
The annual Brazilian Beer Festival takes place in Blumenau every March over 4 days, with local and international breweries offering you the chance to try over 140 types of beer. If there are no carnival crowds around, head to São Paulo to treat your palate to some of the best food in the country or soak up some of the over 2,400 miles of shoreline which includes wonderful spots like Alter do Chao in Pará or the volcanic archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.

As temperatures and crowd numbers begin to drop, April can be a very pleasant month to visit many parts of Brazil. The Pantanal enters its dry season towards the end of the month, and Holy Week brings a number of religious celebrations, as well as a chance to try some homemade chocolate eggs. Heavy rain tends to continue in most regions and temperatures average between 65–85ºF.
While Holy Week festivities take place across the country, the celebrations in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais are some of the most notable, as the city covers itself in flowers and colorful carpets laid on the streets. Other popular Holy Week events are found in Cidade de Goiás, Congonhas, and São João del Rei. Lollapalooza Brasil usually takes place on the first weekend of April in São Paulo and gives you the chance to catch the biggest names in rock, hip hop, and electronic music over three days.

Things quiet down in May and temperatures are noticeably cooler, especially in the south where they fall as low as 57ºF on some days. This period between the rainy season (February to April) and the hot, dry season (September to November) is a good time to explore the Amazon, when you have the best opportunities for boat trips and hiking in pleasant weather.
The celebrations of Carnival and Holy Week may have passed, but there’s still plenty of events taking place in Brazil. São Paulo hosts Virada Cultural Paulistana – the biggest 24-hour festival in the world. Not only is it free to get in, but you’ll be able to attend various events around the city such as live music performances and films. The coastal town of Torres is also worth visiting for its annual International Ballooning Festival. Along with lots of hot-air enthusiasts, it’s also home to concerts, films, and extreme sports like skydiving.

São Paulo’s Gay Pride Parade takes place every June on the Sunday after the Corpus Christi public holiday, which is the biggest of its kind in the world. Celebrate pride with millions of people in a parade of parties, cultural fairs, and other activities aimed at celebrating diversity. In Rio, the best runners in the world take part in what is considered one of the most scenic marathons in the world, passing by mountainsides and seafronts. Other key events include the Festival Folclórico do Amazonas in Manaus which features a variety of regional folklore performances, as well as Festa de São João – a month-long party showcasing traditional music and dancing.

July is Brazil’s coldest month, so no matter which part of the country you visit it’s best to bring a warm coat for the evening. Average temperatures fall between 53 and 82ºF, still warm enough to enjoy the beaches of Rio in the southeast, the tropical wetlands of the Pantanal, and the Amazon rainforest. School holidays last for practically the entire month so expect most attractions to be busier than usual.
Despite the cooler weather, Brazil keeps the spirit of summer alive with a variety of fun events, such as the Campos do Jordão Winter Festival which features a whole month of live performances. There’s also FLIP (Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty) between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where literary lovers can attend workshops, lectures, and debates. Mountain regions are most popular at this time, as locals enjoy indoor skiing, hiking,or sightseeing in places such as the Serra Gaúcha and the hills of Rio.

Comfortable temperatures and minimal rainfall make August one of the best times to visit Brazil. You might want to consider exploring the Pantanal where you have a good chance of spotting jaguars basking on the banks of lakes and rivers. Daytime temperatures tend to be around the mid 70s but can fall drastically in the evening so be sure to bring a good coat.
The southern town of Gramado holds its annual international film festival in August, when the best offerings of Brazilian and other Latin American films of the year are showcased over 9 days. In the midwest, the week-long Bananada music festival takes place in Goiânia, transforming the town into a hub of alternative music, culture, food, and even skateboarding championships.

The world-famous Rock in Rio alternates between its spiritual home of Rio and an international guest city every other year. The biggest bands take to the stage, with past headliners including Elton John, Guns N’Roses, and Rihanna. To soak up some early spring colors, head to the charming city of Holambra – the largest producer of flowers and ornamental plants in Latin America. Spring has sprung and temperatures are on the rise across Brazil in October. It’s still low tourist season but there’s plenty going on to keep you entertained, including music festivals and religious parades.
Oktoberfest comes to many of Brazil’s cities in a big way, particularly in Blumenau where a big parade leads into over two weeks of beer drinking and folk music – the second-biggest celebration after the original Munich festival. By the mouth of the Amazon River, Belém's Círio de Nazaré parade centers around a small statue of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré (Our Lady of Nazareth), which is carried past millions of pilgrims on a flower-filled carriage. Electronic music fans head to Rio for the Ultra Brasil outdoor festival, featuring the world’s top EDM DJs and dazzling stage light displays.

Temperatures begin to rise with averages between 60º and 95ºF, as does the rainfall. Don’t let the unpredictable weather of this shoulder month put you off. There’s still plenty to see and do in Brazil.

Christmas and warm weather mean December is a busy month in Brazil. Average temperatures tend to be between 66º and 95ºF, but the return of the wet season sees rainfall across much of the country.
The first week of December sees the largest off-season carnival held in Natal. Known as Carnatal, it brings together crowds who dance through streets alongside trucks equipped with giant sound systems, known as trios elétricos. The Comic Con Experience arrives in São Paulo for 3 days in December, full of exhibitions and artists related to the biggest comics, TV series, films, and video games. As Christmas nears, cities are decorated in beautiful lights, but few more so than Gramado during its Natal Luz festival. You’ll also be able to enjoy a lakeside concert full of entertainers and dazzling special effects. To ring in the new year in style, join millions of white-clad partygoers on Copacabana Beach in Rio on December 31st for an incredible fireworks display and lots of live music.

Brazil’s summer takes place between December and March, with the heat becoming more intense the farther north you go. If you’re looking to enjoy hiking and sightseeing in major cities like Rio during the cooler period between May and September offer better conditions. In the shoulder periods of April and October, expect it to be chilly in the south with dry and warmer weather along the coastal areas farther north. To avoid the harsh winters in the south and the peak of the wet season, plan your trip between September and October.

S Paulo is a very complete center for art, business and an important gastronomic place.
We stayed only 1 night but we did not go to any parks in the area and just wanted to see the town. The train trip is definitely recommended to see the surroundings. We can back to Curitiba on the bus and the trip was just over 1 hour long. We were staying in Morretes on Friday night and there were very few restaurants that we opened for dinner service. We ended up going to Casa de Rio and had an amazing seafood and Barreado. Friendly people and nice vibe.
I love the location of the hotel right in front of the beach, with a Mag Shopping right next door. João Pessoa has lots of other malls nearby and other easy to find places such farmácias, banks, supermarkets and many other charming little stores and restaurants.
Quero voltar!
Nice Places Around. There is a lot of activities through the beach
I love Rio, very peaceful, economical and beautiful
Cidade Linda!
Caxias do Sul is near to many nice wineries in Bento Gonçalves. It might be worth taking a tour to find them. We didn’t do much in Caxias do Sul itself.
San Paulo is like a mixture of New York business district and old established neighborhoods dating back 500 years.
Salvador is very tourist oriented with markets and beautiful old structures, churches, old narrow streets, and markets.
Muy buen lugar , excelente estadiiaHermosa playa Excenlente atención
People are afraid of travelling to Rio however like anywhere else you need to be a smart traveller. I love this particular area of Rio as you are close to everything and far enough from the Copacabana areas.
Amazing 😁 it's gotten better since 2016 , transportation 👍👍 accomodations 👍👍 Safety 👍👍 my 4 trip still been Amazzzed 😘
Nice city with excellent restaurants, bars, coffee and parks to visit. If you're looking for a place to rest during your vacation I would recommend Olimpia.
Adorei a cidade principalmente a noite.
Great beaches and lovely spots to eat, drink and party. Big city and very long beaches, nice beach side walks for promenades.
Easy to get to know the different beaches by just walking. The bars along the beachside in Copa were awesome. Brazilian women are really beautiful; a joy to see them; very sensual.
The access road can be a little tricky! It's a dirt road (unpaved). There is very little indication where the access road is! Google Maps is of no use! But Igatu is absolutely charming! If you want a place to relax, Igatu is just perfect! There are several hiking trails!
Beautiful city. You can see key tourists sites in six days. anything after that you can spend a few days on Copacabana Beach. The waves are larger and the beach is deeper than Ipanema Beach.
Estou louco pra voltar.
Sao Paulo is an amazing alive city. Great cultural options, great food and great atmosphere.
The town is small but very nice. There is the Schornstein Knipe wirh good beer and food. Doentown you will find good ice stores and coffee shops.
Natal is a cute city. Lots to do! Try the Sand Dunes - Buggy Ride. Awesome!
Ilha muito grande. Visite praias mole, do forte e jurere. Mercadão central excelente para almoço ou jantar.
Lugar seguro, povo hospitaleiro, boa comida e energia incrível!!
Beautiful place across from the beach, quite area, great breakfast.
Natural beauty is obvious; easy access to various tours to other areas in the state and people are generally very friendly; taxis are easy, cheap and reliable
Nice city. Not that beautiful, but good for what we have in Brazilian northeast.
Great hotel and perfect location for exiting the country via GRU. I found it odd though that the only restaurant in the hotel had only beef entrees. I can understand it being a specialty, but a chicken or seafood option seems appropriate.
I could'nt find a Bylangual staff who can speak english and portuguese i hope when i come back to that Hotel I can found somebody who speak both languages. where did I eat at the Hotel Restaurant
The best place. People very friendly price cheap for everything I’m love
Great beaches accompiegned by several bars/restaurants. One think nice for the Dutch this beaches have great waves and the water is clear, closeby a great pousada named, Pousada do Holandes runned by 2 dutch guys
Beautiful place place to travel and have romantic trips
The visit to Corcovado and the Crist was great, a van leaving just two blocks from the Hotel took me and brought me back safely and comfortably. I recommend the Free Walker Tour in the city centre too.
Uber funciona bem.
This survey is too long. I don´t have time for this, and this counts me no bonus. So, I´m sorry, but I´m skipping the next surveys.
Small town, peaceful nature visits at canyons , horseback riding and waterfalls. Pousada Serra Verde was very pleasant in downtown where we could take day trips with Ecotours and go to small local restaurants at night. 4 nights were enough to enjoy the area, do not rush and enjoy this gorgeous area
It is a great location to go to if ride motorcycles: you will always find a friendly mate to talk to and share experiences. It is easy to get there from Florianópolis, the road is beautiful. Urubici is surrounded by amazing roads and spots to stop by and take advantage of the view (Morro da Igreja, Serra do Corvo Branco, waterfalls...). Food is great and you will always be able to have a nice chat with locals!
There's a lot of beaches close by - so definitely can either stay at one place and rent a car or go about staying over different properties as you cross off all the beaches. Weather can be tricky so do keep an eye out for that!
Vibrant and lively… lots of energy in the neighborhoods and the streets….looking forward to returning very soon !
Great place with good people. If Brasilia has ocean shore they will be no better place in Brazil.
A beautiful city much cleaner and more modern than sao paulo. reminds me very much of my home in southern california
Beautiful quiet beach. Nice relaxing stay for those who like peace and quiet.
Rio is just something else! Beautiful all around with something to see ot experience wherever you go! The people the beaches the weather everything is perfect!
View, friendliness of staff, beautiful property, location
We loved our stay on Fernando de Noronha and hope to come back some day. The beaches were beautiful. The snorkeling was amazing. We saw sea turtles, a shark and tons of fish.
Amazing town with plenty of absolutely stunning beaches and the clearest water I ve ever seen! The options to keep yourself entertained are endless! Boat tours, buggy ride/ horse ride, diving…etc.
Must visit to complete the journey to Igauze Falls.
The property was the same as described on the website. The service provided at the property was excellent. The double bed was a little small for a couple however it was really comfortable.
The town I stayed in is just outside of Rio Grande called Cossino. Very nice place and friendly. Several good restaurants and lots of food truck style food places. Typically everything opens later in the evening but there are places open throughout the day. Great beaches and walking area. Would recommend if you aren’t looking for the big city.
