The view from the balcony is stunning! The locals in Montemaggiore were incredibly nice, as were the hosts Nicola and his mother. Hiking trails are near the house on the Italian-Slowenian border. By car, you can reach either the mediterranean town Cividale del Friuli or the alpine landscape of Triglav National Park within 30min. The Rifugio at the foot of Mt. Matajur serves delicious meals, at night people come here to gaze at the stars. We would gladly return some day!

We would definitely recommend this place. Everyone is very kind and helpful. I had a sunburn and the host immediately offered aftersun. He also had some tips and advice for activities nearby. We had dinner twice here (typical Slovenian meals for a very good price), which was really good. Also breakfast was amazing. Ingredients fresh from their farm, their home made cheese is really the best. It's a remote location but also a beautiful place to come to rest. We really want to thank Aljosa and his family for their hospitality! We hope we'll have a chance to come back in the future.

very kind owner, and the room looks very luxurious, with a big bathroom, beautifully designed, all brand new. clean. perfect place to rest with access to the balcony. the restaurant is just down the street. breakfast included fruit. they were so kind to store my luggage for a whole week and invite me for a drink and meet the family. highly recommended.
