This is fantastic stay : the host has been so nice and she provides a wonderful « off the beaten track » experience : she took me herself to three waterfalls nearby and she recommended a shrine : there were no tourists, extremely peaceful. Highly recommend you to stay there !

Just the best! Our host contacted us in advance and made us dinner reservations for both nights of our stay — which was super helpful and the restaurants were wonderful. The house was lovely and spacious, very comfortable. Very highly recommended! I wish we could have stayed longer.

The breakfast for just Y1000 and coffee for Y500 was the best part of our stay! And that's saying a lot because we loved it all. She is such a good cook and he roasts the coffee on premises! So good.

Wonderful location with exceptional views. Very nice room and helpful hosts. I would very strongly recommend renting a car if you are staying in the Aso area. Everything is very spread out and I can't imagine moving around with public transport being realistic. The access to Wakka would also be inconvenient without a car. The only thing I would add to the room is a couple of low chairs with a backrest. The rooms are Japanese style you see, with tatami mat floor and a low table. There are cushions to sit on the tatami, which is fine for a short time but for a long session doing something at the table I would appreciate one of those low chairs that sit directly on the tatami (they don't have legs) but do have a backrest. It makes sitting on the tatami for longer stretches much more comfortable.
