Kerro paras taktiikkasi halvalla matkustamiseen kohteessa Tokio.

Buy a Pasmo card! ^_^ It works on most buses and trains. During our 3 week stay it was never NOT accepted for the places we went to. We used $100 each [we kept refilling it with $10 after the first $50] And if you have anything leftover, it is also accepted at most convenience stores and vending machines so you can spend the rest on snacks or drinks. If you are traveling with someone, I suggest you only use it for your transit costs first so you both always have the same balance. You can check your balance at the refill machine or whenever you scan it to exit the subway. You save a few scents each trip by using this and also the piece of mind of exact change when you are heading to a destination and don't know the cost. PASMOs can also be used wherever it says SUICA at a station [another train card, we scanned our card and it took the same amount of money fine]. DON'T LISTEN TO PEOPLE, YOU DONT NEED A JR RAIL PASS if you are just visiting Tokyo. JR passes are only good if you plan on visiting places like Kyoto and extremely far destinations which will take over 2-3 hours to venture to. We had no problem visiting all of Tokyo with just our Pasmo card. (from Odaiba, to Hikawadai, to Shinjuku, Ikebukero, Shibuya, Harajuku, Narita, Urayasa, Mitaka, Akihabara, etc) There are LOADS of cheap food places in Tokyo that are very good. My favorite place to eat was Sukiya. You pick the food you want from a machine with pictures and you can place it to go or dine in. A bowl of rice and delicious meat was only 250 yen and got me filled up. There are lots of places like this where you can order your food from a machine and dine in to have a quick inexpensive meal. 711, SunKus, and Family Mart also had great dinners (a LOT better quality than the convenience store food here) So don't look past those 100 yen cooked foods! ^_^ For souvenirs there are plenty of 100 yen shops. If you want Harajuku style or novelty clothing and items for cheaper, visit Don Quijote in Akihabara. We got some amazing shoes [both streetwear and fancy dress shoes] for 2000 yen! The shopping area between Asakusa station and Sensoji Temple has some other great clothes + shopping for CHEAP! (under 4000 yen)
Either a PASMO/SUICA card for VERY easy transport on the metro lines, JR train lines and the bus routes, all of which are very reasonable (no more than a £1 or so in any one direction), or a JR pass if you intend on going around a lot more and further afield outside of the centre of Tokyo. Never use dedicated transport services like the Narita Express, as they are far more expensive and only slightly faster than a bus or train line.
get cheap but convenient location to stay, eat at self service Japanese fast food like ramen, udon shop using vending machine to purchase ticket. Eat at market but choose those shop not on main street, look for signboard, those cheaper choice might be at upstairs or side path.
