I am not even sure how to adequately express my gratitude for the hosts, Claudia and Vitor of Casa Auri. They went way out of their way to make my visit to Sao Miguel special. It started before our arrival, when the host was already sharing tips. Then when our flight was delayed 3 hours and we ended up having to arrive very late, they made sure to still be there to greet us with warmth and fresh bread even though they had a long trip back home themselves. The sweet home exceeded my expectations, clean, well maintained and looks bigger in person. The town itself was also quite special, local, away from tourists, nestled in a mountain valley that took my breath away every time we returned home. We woke up every morning to the sounds of a running creek, unique birds and local festivities. The house is also in walking distance from what was our favorite hike on the trip, the hike up to Salto do Prego, a beautiful waterfall and serene spot for a cool swim. What was extra special, was trying toe coffee beans Vitor has been growing and processing himself from the backyard. He left us a package to try which made for a lovely treat the first morning. Throughout our entire trip I felt like I had local friends on the Island, Claudia kept in close contact via WhatApp giving me well timed tips, and insight into the local landscape and culture. I felt like she was always thinking about me, and coming up with ways to improve our time there. If you want a unique and authentic experience on the Island I highly recommend this booking. Calm location, small shop and and pub with fantastic local people is near by. The equipment of the kitchen and other roms is adequate. There is no air conditioning but you can use small electric radiator. Beach is 5 minutes from the apartment. In the beach si swimming pool. You can park car in the street.

Nice location in the town, close to the supermarket and snack bar. The style of the rooms and bathroom are well done! Hiking to the waterfalls can also be done directly from there.
