Waking up each morning with such a majestic and powerful presence before us made the experience even more special. This is a place that teaches humility. It reminds us how small we are before Mother Nature, and at the same time, how strong the human spirit can be. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to witness such courage and to share, even briefly, in their story. We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something authentic, meaningful, and unforgettable.

The food is prepared by the family, and their homemade wine is a real highlight. Sharing meals here feels warm and personal, like being part of the household. Dani, the owner of the hotel was also our guide—he took us up the volcano and arranged all our transport. From the airport to São Filipe, he organized a shared bus, where we left our bags at a local restaurant, enjoyed a meal, and then took the same driver to his village—all for a very small price One thing to keep in mind is that there is no running water in the village. Water is stored in a reservoir, and when it empties, it can be a bit challenging until it is refilled. It’s part of the rural experience, but it’s good to be aware of it in advance. Overall, this is a special place for travelers who appreciate simplicity, hospitality, and an authentic connection with local life.
