A recently renovated apartment, Centro Macas offers accommodation in Macas. As the name suggests, The accomodation is located in a very convenient central part of the city. Many fairly priced restaurants around, and if you want to splurge, there are some upper-market cafes a short walking distance also. And as a cherry on the cake, there are some great views of a nearby, frequently erupting volcano Rosa, the host, goes above and beyond making sure you feel welcome, comfortable, and are armed with enough knowledge to get the most out of her city. I originally stayed here as a stop over town to break up my travels. But ended up staying a little longer because I enjoyed it so much.

With mountain views, Mamallacta Páramo Lodge is situated in Papallacta and has a restaurant, a kids' club, bar, garden, terrace and children's playground. Some units have a seating area and/or a... More than the pics online can say, Mamallacta is filled with tons of details that make the difference! This is far from being "just a hotel"!. You see the care of his owner, Jonathan, for his place. The hotel is perfectly located to go enjoy the thermal pools (5min walk away). Jonathan also shared information on the current situation in Ecuador so the whole experience was just wonderful. One of the best dinners I had in Ecuador and... artesanal beers! BRAVO!

Great Hostels Amazon features an open-air bath, garden, a bar and shared lounge in Puyo. The property has mountain and garden views. I stayed at Greatest Hostels Amazon for about a week and feel so grateful I found this little jungle gem. Javier and Maria are some of the kindest, most welcoming hosts — incredibly helpful, warm and just genuinely good humans. They made me feel at home from the first moment. The location is perfect: surrounded by lush nature and total calm, yet only about 30 minutes from Puyo by bus or taxi. Falling asleep to jungle sounds and waking up to birds, butterflies and sunlight through the trees was pure magic. The property has beautiful walking paths, flowers everywhere and so many peaceful spots to sit and just be. The dorm is light, spacious and very clean, with lovely art and cozy areas to relax or socialise if you feel like it. Hot showers, great WiFi, and a delicious breakfast with homemade bread every morning. I could also use the kitchen and ended up sharing meals and laughs with new friends — it really felt like a little community. You can easily walk to nearby indigenous communities, waterfalls, a cacao farm and a mirador, or rent bikes to explore more. They also offer guided tours — ask for Maria, her knowledge about nature and plant medicine is incredbile and so inspiring. Also completely fell in love with their sweet dog and kitty. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and recharge while still being close enough to the action. Honestly didn’t want to leave and would come back any time. Such a special place.

TAGUA LODGE features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and restaurant in Tena. The hotel provides both free WiFi and free private parking. Breakfast was very nice, we stayed for 3 nights and it changed a little every day. The property is approx 4/5 dollar taxi ride to Tena. We visited Laguna Azual twice during our stay. We got a taxi there and returned back on the public bus to Tena at 5:30pm from Laguna Azual. We had hoped to visit the beautiful waters which were very local to the hotel via bus but didn't manage to fit it in. We also go the bus back from Misahuailli to the hotel (make sure to take the canoe ride - def highlight), so the hotel is convenient in other ways despite being in a more isloated spot. The rooms are beautiful and grounds beautifully kept, with a small pool. WE never had dinner in restuarant instead enjoyed eating at Laguna Azual and having a snack in Tena in the PM. THere is one FANTASTIC value authentic souvenir shop in Tena, well worth going to, prices very reasonable and already priced so no haggling and a beautiful local ceviche restuarant that serves popcorn with all soups acrocss th e road from shop. Yum!

The people were attentive and ensured that they were available if we needed anything. The food was excellent and the meals well organised. The staff were available if we wished to do any excursions.
