Great accommodation, it gives real comfort despite the relatively remote location. We liked everything about the house. We expected to have a break there from constant driving of previous days, which we did - just hit some nearby attractions (Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge and Lóndrangar) and took a costal walk to Arnarstapi.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need — it even has a slow cooker and a rice cooker, which is very convenient. We also really appreciate the attention to small details — the curtain in the shower booth to keep dry area dry, the mirror outside the bathroom (so you can do your makeup while someone else is taking a shower), plenty of power outlets including an extra extension cord in the bedroom. Even though the room is on the second floor (this is informed clearly when booking), so carrying luggage upstairs can be a bit tiring, but the staircase is wide and not steep so it is not that hard. The code for the key box and check-in instructions were sent before arrival, and it was very easy to access the apartment. The view of Kirkjufell from every windows is superb!

Super cute! All the shared areas were welcoming and our individual room was very nice, they even have a towel warmer in the bathroom. The location is perfect and the town is so quaint. We found out that we needed to make a reservation for dinner because there are only 3 restaurants we were told. We thought because the busiest season was over that we would be ok, but I guess not when the options are limited. Which makes sense. You check in for this stay is at red barn looking building across the street. When you check in she can make you a dinner reservation if you didn’t do so ahead of time. We ate at Narfeyrarstofa just 2 doors down. It was so cozy and the food and atmosphere were outstanding! We also paid extra to have them make us breakfast in the morning. It was well worth it! It was delicious and the presentation was picture perfect ! We had a great night in this picture perfect little town and it was a great place to stay before we headed to the westjfords. You can also take the ferry from here to the westjfords if you’d like.

From the living room window, we could watch the Northern Lights right from the armchair — truly magical! The kitchen was excellent, and the house had two showers and two toilets, making it very convenient. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. We stayed alone, but the house is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate more guests. Everything about our stay was perfect.

We appreciated how clean, cozy & well stocked her shared dining/kitchen area is, ample servings of cereal, milk, spreads etc... If you're looking for a homestay that goes beyond self check-in & check-out with a personal human touch, Holiday Guesthouse is the cozy stay for you in charming, serene Styykishholmur....also appreciated the Icelandic pronunciation lessons! "Rekyaveeek", "Veeek" & "Olasveek"....Takk Monika!! 🫶🙂 P/S : Bonus supermarket is literally in Monika's backyard....convenient! 😋

Located 6 km from Stykkishólmur, Helgafell provides a garden and free WiFi. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with cable channels and a private bathroom. Amazing location where you are close to the nearby town but surrounded by nature. We had a great stay and the cabin had everything we needed.
