The hotel seems brand new, and the rooms are nicely set up with tatami mats and comfortable beds. Just like in a ryokan, you leave your shoes at the entrance. This gives the hotel a very cozy feel despite its size. The staff is extraordinary. I never had to wait to talk to a staff member and they were very helpful. The onsen is one of the best I experienced in larger hotels like this. It is a very nice oasis to come back to after a long day. I particularly liked that they also have a sauna. The location is ideal. There are lots of restaurants and bars literally right outside the hotel, the lake and the castle are both just a short stroll away. If I come back to Matsue, I will stay here again for sure.

Situated in Masuda, 600 metres from Mochiishi Beach, ゲストハウス＆カフェ ハレテル features accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Everything was 10/10 great place. highly recommend for anyone passing through. We were bike packing and the owners were very helpful.

The guesthouse is as clean as a home, and the manager of the guesthouse is such a nice person. He speaks English well, and communication with him was very easy. He even dropped us off at the Matsue Station on the last day. The toilets and the bathroom was always clean although the guesthouse was quite busy on our last two days.

Set in Matsue, less than 1 km from Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum, 喜庵 KIAN the guest house by the castle has a garden, private parking and rooms with free WiFi access. This is a lovely guesthouse run by a highly dedicated owner. We knew Matsue from previous visits but the owner, Emi, opened up several new pleasures for us. For example, she arranged a visit to a soy factory-it's at least 150 years old-and also treated us to tea. The house is within easy walking distance to the town center and there is a very good bus service. The bakery across the street is a gem, combining innovative breads, whiskey and an excellent music collection. We had fabulous sushi at a restaurant close to the laundromat. The kitchen space is perfect for breakfast. We'd love to go back to Matsue and hope to stay at Kian again.

Went for deluxe room with seating area and water views, and were rewarded with two evenings savoring the spectacular sunsets over the lake for which Matsue is known. Dinner in restaurant Willows very nice—be sure to make reservation when you book. We got in one night, but the night we arrived it was booked out, like many places in the city.

Set in Ōda in the Shimane region with Kotogahama Beach nearby, 琴ヶ浜琴風亭 offers accommodation with free private parking. Wow - where do we begin? Kio was a phenomenal host! When we booked this stay, we didn't realize that it was more like an air-bnb. The home is shared with Kio and her mom, but we had our HUGE private living quarters and bathroom all to ourselves. We had complete privacy unless they were serving food or we had questions. We were so well taken care of that it was the most personable experience we had while traveling around Japan. We really felt at home. The personal touches and amenities were the best as well as the treats and tea upon arrival. Don't hesitate to book a breakfast in the morning... so delicious! Plus, the town is so sleepy that there was nothing to eat in walking distance. The wood fireplace was my favorite detail and being just steps from the beach was such a treat. Make sure to explore Omoricho during your stay here and stay for at least 2 nights!! Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! We hope to be back some day soon!!
