Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

The location was great, just by the main Hakone-Yumoto Station, allowing you to get to different attractions directly with nearby trains and buses. Staff were friendly and communication was no problem with translation machine. Family-run business so it was old-fashioned Japanese style rooms, onsen plus yukata for the whole experience. One of the cheaper and convenient options to experience a stay in Hakone.

We enjoyed the big, onsen baths. staff are friendly and take time to explain our questions. Breakfast is amazing. I never had a Japanese buffet breakfast this great. we stayed only 1 night and expected Onsen and breakfast, so we are satisfied guests!

The traditional Japanese meals were authentic and amazing. Our room was very spacious. Friendly staff, especially at dining. Great little gift shop in the lobby. Hot baths were authentic, spacious and with the option of bathing indoors or outdoors or in your own, private bath at an added cost.

Loved this place. It was nice because it felt like somewhere that native Japanese people actually go for vacation. I was the only foreigner in the hotel while I was there. The onsen are top notch and so relaxing. Plus they provide you with a super comfy kimono to wear around the hotel which felt awesome. Also, there was a vending machine near my room that served beer. 10/10

This is a design hotel with a young atmosphere. The room we stayed in was the biggest and nicest we had during our 2 week stay in Japan, very well designed (japanese+scandinavian inspiration), very spacious and comfortable. The location of the hotel is extremely convenient, adjacent to the train station and cable car, and close to the museums. Nice restaurant, great modern food offering. I really enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it without hesitation!

Traditional Japanese Ryokan with a private onsen that you can use for free with your room booking. Close to the cablecar in Gora. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The woman who runs the Ryokan is extremely friendly, and went out her way to show us around the room and the facilities of the inn. Gora is a great place to stay if you want to be somewhere a little closer to the lake, and more traditional. I'm heavily tattooed and being able to use the onsen is great, and the temperature of the water is just right.

Friendly and helpful front desk gentleman who help us with our check-in, queries on itinerary and departure timings, etc. We would like to comment him for his good service. Private onsen was a good experience for the family. The family also enjoy the buffet breakfast which included some Japanese flavours.

The room were really clean and the staff was very friendly even if they don't speak English much but able to understand a bit. The onsen was great especially the outdoor one. I went during construction so there weren't too much to see outdoor. For those not used to Japanese style breakfast/dinner. The buffet is great for anyone to enjoy as there are western food as well.

Lovely room, very spacious with private hot spring bath. Beds weren't the comfiest. A bit of a journey from the station but that is a lot of the hotels in the area. Best value price wise in the same area I would say. Onsen facilities and traditional Japanese food for dinner and breakfast available. Very peaceful. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great experience, friendly staff and very patient with non Japanese tourists. Property is wonderful, great private rooms with nice views and a huge semi-open air hot spring tub. The food is incredible and is presented exceptionally. Probably not recommended for anyone who doesn’t like seafood but they might offer alternatives if you let them know in advance.
