Cabins in Chamarel

Beautiful view of mountains and some of the ocean. The balcony and outdoor kitchen are great. The kitchen has basic cooking supplies which was really helpful. The couple invited us to tea our first night and we had an incredible view of the ocean from their beautiful living space. We stayed go Christmas Eve and they brought us some Christmas chocolates. They were so sweet! The WiFi was strong and the room was very comfortable. The air conditioning was strong and relaxing!

I like everything about Auberge de saint Aubin. I was staying for Four nights on half board, from the 20 of June until the 24 of June 2024. It ticked everything that I wanted. Getting there was very easy using public transport. I wanted peace and quiet away from it all and it was truly a hidden germ in the beautiful island of Mauritius. I used public transport to visit the south coast of the Island during the day time. The bus stop was just across the road. All the staff were very professional, they treated me as if I was very special, friendly and very helpful. I had a free tour of the resort and visited the vanilla plantation, Rum making and tasting of the Rum and not forgetting the small Zoo. I bought three bottles of Rum and some tea. As I was staying at Auberge de saint Aubin I could use the restaurant for lunch and get a 10 per cent discount. I made the most of it I had crispy chicken and crispy prawn with some local Beer. Breakfast was truly wonderful pancakes, fruit salad, omelette and bacon, tea or coffee and juice. As for dinner it was local cuisine. One night I had chicken with vanilla sauce and one night fish curry every night it was something different. They asked when I checked in what I prefer. I told them that I only eat white meat chicken or fish. They cater for my taste. My room was big and clean everyday. It was a 19th century going back in time.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it was worth every penny. It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a whole package of activities and meals. When I arrived, I was a bit too early for check-in, so I was invited to do a tea tasting on a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. While I sampled 8 different types of tea, I watched a family of wild boars trot past, and I couldn’t help but laugh when a monkey stole a box of tea from a neighboring table. When I was invited to my bubble lodge, I was blown away by the details - flower petals on the bed, stunning views of nature. It would be perfect for a honeymoon, but I also enjoyed it as a solo traveler. I spent my afternoon watching the animals from my bubble - monkeys, wild boars, a black swan. I also took a long walk around the lake. The dinner (included in the room reservation) was exquisite. Three delicious courses and plenty of vegetarian options. I also really liked the tea bread served with tea chutney. During my dinner, I watched Java deer just outside of the panoramic windows. After dinner, I had a beautiful nighttime walk back to my bubble, and I laid in bed watching the stars and listening to animals rustling in the trees. When I awoke in the morning, I found that a pair of Java deer were looking into my bubble, and the black swan was also right outside. I took a rain shower outdoors with a bit of actual rain mixed in. I had a delicious breakfast that consisted of crepes, an omelet, yogurt, juice, tea, and more of my favorite tea bread. Next I borrowed a bicycle from the lodge and rode it to the tea museum, where I learned all about tea, and then I took a guided tour of the Bois Cheri tea factory. At the end, I had yet another tea tasting, and then it was time to check out of my hotel. All-in-all, I had a perfect stay and I really hope that I will have an opportunity to come back someday. I want to give a special shout-out to Tina, who took really good care of me in the restaurant.

The location and the service were excellent. We stayed for 3 nights and would go back tomorrow. The location is remote and quiet and you have the feeling of being completely isolated. The views and surrounding areas are beautiful and the view from the view bar is also spectacular at sunset! The staff were incredibly helpful and always happy to assist.

We had a wonderful winter surrounded by the natural beauty of Mauritius. The fresh air and the unique atmosphere of the eco-village, along with the cozy lodges, made our stay exceptional. Every evening, we enjoyed barbecues by the fireplace. The hiking and horseback riding experiences for our daughter were also delightful. Both breakfast and dinner provided by the hotel were perfect, thanks to the fresh, high-quality ingredients used.

The location is absolutely beautiful. The kitchen and BBQ were well kitted out. The host (Vincent) was great. The bed and room were comfortable. Everything was clean. It felt good to come home to the place after a day out.
