Featuring an outdoor swimming pool, a terrace as well as a bar, O Bona Moremi Safari Lodge is set in Khwai, within 40 km of Mababe Gate Chobe National Park. Maun Airport is 122 km away. We stayed here for 2 nights second week of November 2024 mid-way though a self-drive safari in Moremi and Chobe and it was the highlight of our trip! The place is situated in a lovely location with great game drives around the surrounding area. It’s also on the doorstep to North Gate entrance if you have your own vehicle and wish to head into the park for the day. The tents and general dining area was excellent, the food was even better. As many other reviews have stated, some of which I read during my own research, the food prepared there by the chef and her team really is something else. The staff are also brilliant and will take care of every need you have. They are friendly, pleasant and genuinely want to see you have a good time. Upon arrival we had a punctured tyre, and despite this not really being an issue of the safari lodge the manager Mange came out when he saw me struggling trying to jack up the vehicle and for the next hour was on the ground with me (he basically did most of the work :) ) helping me get it fixed so we could get out on a game drive. Certainly something I won’t forget. Great guy to sit down with and chat to if you want to find out more about Botswana and the local area as he has a lot of experience around Moremi and is super friendly. We didn’t do any of the game drives offered by the lodge, but based on the experiences of other guests we spoke with in the evenings they had many excellent encounters including finding a leopard not far from the lodge itself. Overall a very well run and pleasant place to be, you will not be disappointed and we cannot wait to go back there.

Comfortable Accommodation: Phazama Farm in Maun offers a chalet with a sun terrace, garden, and free WiFi in public areas. Stunning place. Chalets are off grid, which is wonderfully peaceful. Beautiful view of the flood plains with exceptional sunsets. Katja and Peter were wonderful, very accommodating, helpful and kind. The chalet had all we needed for a comfortable stay.

Providing river views, Xaro Lodge in Shakawe provides accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, a terrace, a restaurant and a bar. Absolutely everything. Scott and Casey were very caring hosts, the staff super friendly and efficient, exceptional meals. Tha chalets positioned overlooking the river. The morning walk with Thomas the guide was fascinating, excellent birder. Saw 3 Pells fishing owls. Met all expectations of what a lodge on the Okavango should be.

Situated in Maun, 6.4 km from Nhabe Museum, Mokoro Lodge features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Excellent option for a new overnight stay when driving through Botswana. Easy access right of the main road you can park your car in front of the room, courteous staff. Delivers exactly what it is supposed to.

Featuring a garden and a year-round outdoor pool, Thamalakane River Lodge offers accommodation in Maun. Free private parking is available on site. Our stay at Thamalakane was an opportunity to acclimatise before a 12 day self drive through the Moremi and Chobe national parks. I was blown away by how beautiful the lodge would be, the lovely gardens and trees provide a haven and a little cooling micro climate in the dry season that attracts and provides a home for an abundance of birds and small wildlife on the Thamalakane River. It was such a pleasure to be able to sit and have coffee in the mornings and watch the birds flit down to the gently trickling ponds adjacent to the main dining area and then get to do it again with a cooling G&T in the late afternoon whilst watching the hippo in the river. The staff at Thamalakane are all absolutely wonderful and are by far the heart and soul of the lodge. They were increadibly attentive, accomodating and kind. Aaron, Godfrey, T4, Patricia, Debbie and all the other wonderful staff who's names I dont remember and wish I did, including the chef for accomodating us by making phaleche and the staff that maintained the lovely rooms and premises and the gardeners for their tending of the absolutely wonderful gardens, you have my sincerest thanks. And then there was Kelly, you are an absolute credit to the lodge my friend and cant thank you enough for being so attentive, caring and going that extra mile, I only wish we had been able to say good bye.

With Krokovango Crocodile Farm reachable in 2 km, Shakawe River Lodge offers accommodation, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a shared lounge. It was just such a lovely place. Super staff and the Manager went out of his way to make us feel at home. From accommodation to boat rides and having breakfast overlooking the Okavango River was just so special. Wil return without Aa doubt. And then, spotting the Pels Fishing Owl again just put the Cherry of the top
