If you want to experience staying at a traditional Japanese house in the countryside, this is the perfect place. It is suitable for large groups with both beds and futons available for sleeping in multiple separate rooms. Everything was clean and a bunch of snacks and drinks were prepared for us, making us feel welcomed. We had no trouble parking a regular-sized Japanese cat at the designated parking spot in front of the house. As a typical traditional house, it is poorly insulated and may take a while to warm up on cold days but there is AC in several rooms and other types of room heaters are available as well. The bathtub is amazing and even supports reheating the water so that it can easily be used by several people consecutively. For exploring the surrounding area, a car is highly recommended.

Great attention to detail with many nice amenities. Loved the big dining table and comfy couches, outdoor sitting and grill were great, too. Ample bedrooms, with 5 toilets snd 2 showers. Loved having a kind of secret staff that did the dishes every night. Host was immensely helpful in making recommendations and providing advice.

El Tenjin Lodge está rodeado de montañas exuberantes en Minakami, a solo 5 minutos a pie del teleférico Tenjindaira Snow Resort y de la estación JR Doai. The lodge itself is great. I had a nice room with a balcony overlooking the mountains and the stream nearby. Easily reached by car or by a local bus. Lots to do nearby, from visiting the deepest train station in Japan to going on hikes. All in all I had a great stay. Big thanks to the host for making me feel so welcomed.
