In the morning we even did a Qui Gong session on the Zen Patio. We had a wonderful experience staying in such a modern, comfortable hotel unit in such peaceful surroundings.

If you want to experience staying at a traditional Japanese house in the countryside, this is the perfect place. It is suitable for large groups with both beds and futons available for sleeping in multiple separate rooms. Everything was clean and a bunch of snacks and drinks were prepared for us, making us feel welcomed. We had no trouble parking a regular-sized Japanese cat at the designated parking spot in front of the house. As a typical traditional house, it is poorly insulated and may take a while to warm up on cold days but there is AC in several rooms and other types of room heaters are available as well. The bathtub is amazing and even supports reheating the water so that it can easily be used by several people consecutively. For exploring the surrounding area, a car is highly recommended.

Surrounded by lush mountains in Minakami, Tenjin Lodge is just a 5-minute walk from Tenjindaira Snow Resort Ropeway and JR Doai Station. Charming place in a perfect location for hiking. Room was big enough and comfortable, with the river just outside your window. Breakfast was wonderful - coffee, eggs, toast, salad - just what we wanted before a day of hiking, and adjusted for our vegetarian needs. Hosts were so welcoming, made us feel right at home and provided many useful recommendations for hikes, restaurants and activities. The area is beautiful
