We loved the incredibly delicious food (dinner and breakfast) and the great hospitality of the owner and his wife. Our room was pretty large and had all amenities you need, except an ensuite bathroom. The shared bathroom is clean, large and comfortable with showers and an onsen! If you're lucky you have the bathroom for yourself. Although we had a rental car we stayed nearby the pension to avoid the load of tourists on e.g. the Magome- Tsumago trail. Kaida is a pretty village from where you can hike. The waterfalls trail loop on the way to mount Ontake is beautiful and tranquil as is the whole area around mount Ontake. It's easy to spend 4 days at Kaoru!

Such a great place to stay at! Nice spacious room with comfortable beds, great common room to chill at night after a day on the slopes too. We really liked the freshly cooked breakfast every morning, simply delicious. A big thanks also for our host Mr. Chen for his wonderful hospitality, and a special thanks for driving back to the station to bring us the bag we forgot at the lodge, would not have made our train without him! Overall great experience, would recommend to anyone going to Hakuba.

Quiet location, spacious, fully furnished , home entertainment and all well maintained. Worth for value to stay.

The owner was really friendly and welcoming, and gave us many recommendations on where to eat or to visit. The place is really quiet and cozy, and the shared baths are amazing. The homemade breakfast was really good!

The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

The owner and the staff were very attentive and always went out of their way to help us throughout our stay. The room that we booked was spacious for 4 people. We enjoyed the public bath experience and onsen. The meals were lovely, especially dinner was generous and delicious which amazingly was another thing we actually looked forward to apart from the hotbath after a long day out skiing. We would definitely book here again!
