This made for the perfect penultimate day to my MCT thru-hike, could not have wished for anything better. Fully equipped kitchen, nice shower, bathtub, common room with TV and netflix, sheesh. Takka is a wonderful host; it was such a joy spending the evening with him. The lodge itself is surrounded by stunning nature, with magical sunrises and a peaceful atmosphere that made everything feel perfect. We stayed with our 2 little kids and there was plenty of space for everyone. We’re already looking forward to coming back — next time for more than just 2 nights! Thank you for everything, Takka! 🌿💛

Appi Life is Beautiful features city views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Hachimantai, 46 km from Morioka Station. The accommodation has a hot tub. The owner is such a kind person. Trying to help where he can. Helped us with finding lively hikes. He and his staff cook fantastic! Such a treat in the evening.

Located in Shizukuishi, 30 km from Morioka Station and 14 km from Koiwai Farm, Pension Sanrinsha provides accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden and a terrace. Really lovely pension and host who has jazz music playing in the dining room most of the time. We had 2 rooms next to each other for our family of 5, with shared bathroom facilities. Breakfast was perfect, just what you need before hitting the ski slopes. Iwate Kogen and Amihari Onsen just up the road. You really need a car with snow tyres to access if there is a lot of snow around. About an hour drive from Appi so definitely doable as a day trip.
