The chalet was well into the jungle and facing the sea with the sound of sea ponding onto the beach the whole night. Good experience for my family.

The lodge is impressively clean, well-maintained, and full of character. The rooms are spacious, freshly renovated, and each comes with its own private bathroom. We stayed in the Double Room, which was very comfortable and equipped with a fan—perfect for keeping cool at night. All the essentials are available on-site, including kayak and snorkeling gear rentals, which made exploring the area super convenient. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the food. Sook Peng, Fred’s wife, is not only an incredible cook but also a truly warm and welcoming person. Sharing meals with her was a joy, and her cooking made every meal memorable. There are also cozy hammocks for relaxing, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind. We couldn't recommend this place more highly—it's a rare gem built with heart and purpose. Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan. Everything was great, we loved our stay and didn’t want to leave at all! We were picked up by our gracious host who told us a lot about Borneo. After ascending the 600 step stairs, the view from the restaurant was amazing. Furthermore we saw a lot of wildlife on the boat trips!
