Totally amazing place in the middle of nowhere. Wonderful cottages with hot shower and comfy beds set around a large inner area facing the beautiful main restaurant and lounge, bar areas. So well built, around and including the large boulders, they’re even inside the main building. The food was exceptional, dinners and breakfast both. Staff are so friendly and they light fires in many fireplaces in the main building and outdoor firepit. Thanks to Melencia and the Chef and all the staff,all wonderful . It’s a very beautiful place visually and also close to Fish River Canyon. No trouble for 2wd to access from the main road.

Surrounded by natural African gardens, this eco-friendly lodge offers bright rooms with a terrace overlooking the Gurib River bed. Our visit to Alte Kalkoefen Lodge was a highlight of our Namibia trip. The owners and staff were incredibly welcoming, making us feel at home from the start. The lodge exceeded our expectations in comfort and cleanliness. Another highlight is definitely the food they serve. Suuuuper delicious! The genuine friendliness of everyone there was remarkable. A special touch was receiving a jar of their delicious relish at departure, a favorite of ours during the stay.
