What an amazing location. The room was super new and clean, the shower worked so well, and even though we were annoying vegans, the host helped us out and made a great dinner and breakfast. She also got us a ride to the thermal baths which were much needed. Overall a great place with a lot of heart.

It’s hard to choose what I loved most about Spirit of the River Lodge, everything was truly wonderful. The location is magical and peaceful, with the sound of the river always in the background and barely any traffic passing by. We stayed twice, in two different rooms, and both were beautifully designed, cozy, and offered gorgeous views of the river. You can really feel how thoughtfully everything was created to respect and highlight the natural surroundings. The lodge has a sauna overlooking the river, direct access to the water, and a small yoga shala where I enjoyed my morning practice and reading. Claudia and Rudi were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. They made us feel like family. We had dinner one night and breakfast each morning, and even as vegans, we felt so well cared for. The food was amazing. They also have lovely animals, a llama named Tupac and two sweet dogs, Max and Juanita, who added so much joy to our stay. The area is relaxing but also well located, with easy access to nearby towns and cities. We came back twice because we truly fell in love with the place. I can’t recommend it enough!

We only had a short stay before our trip to Machu Picchu, but we were very satisfied. The hotel was clean, quiet, and had comfortable beds. Friendly service at reception, and we appreciated the breakfast box for our early departure. It was also conveniently close to the train station. No complaints—we’d be happy to return!

It is just beautiful. Quirky with amazing staff. They really could not be more helpful. Rooms were spotless and well presented and there are lots of lovely outdoor and covered areas to spend time. This place really is a gem.

We were at the hotel during the “Off Season”. We arrived in the dark, late. We had had a long journey, we were hungry and tired. The delightful owner, who was suffering with an abscess on her tooth, smiled and made us a meal at around 22.00hrs! Our room was perfect. We were the only guests. Originally we booked for 2 days but liked it so much we stayed for a week. The staff were friendly and helpful.Beautiful, we’ll kept garden, just a short walk into the town. Parking within property. The only drawback was that there is no inside dining area. There is a delightful covered dining area looking out onto the garden. When we were there in January, the weather was a bit chilly, so we would have appreciated eating inside but if you were there in high season, it would be fine..
