Location, in a little hamlet in the vineyards. We had dinner the evening that we arrived. It was wonderful, worth the extra cost, and included home cooked local produce, and sampling of 3 wines from the organic winery across the road from the chambres d’hotes. The included continental breakfast was good too.

The location is fantastic, just between the vineyards. We got a warm welcome from Brigitte and the accommodation is great. If you are up for a winetrip or just want to stay in a place that is really quiet. This is the spot.

This is a 17th century house built with stone from Cadillac castle. it has an amazing sense of space with far reaching views out of over vineyards and barely any other houses in sight. Parking is easy and couldn’t be more secure as no one is around so you can leave valuables in it without dragging everything out. Fantastic, big, beautifully presented pool with parasols, loungers and lilos which you have to yourself. Wonderful house and the room you have has it’s own access so you don’t feel like you are disturbing Martine. The room is lovely , high ceilings, coffee and tea provided, big comfortable bed, tv, cool artwork on the walls and a lovely bathroom with an excellent shower. The house is 12 minutes drive to Cadillac so plenty of choices of restaurants etc. There are four ponies and a horse to say hello to and Martíne’s dog, Onyx the flat coat retriever, is a lovely, friendly fella. Finally the breakfast was fabulous. Under the pergola with wonderful bread, fruit, pain au chocolat, freshly squeezed juice and if that wasn’t enough Martine’s delicious homemade cake, yoghurt and jam. Martine is a great host. We enjoyed sharing a glass of wine with her the one night we stayed ( hers was better than ours…) and overall she is interesting and interested. The bottom line is that we didn’t want to leave.

Lovely engaging hostess who happily accommodated our imprecise arrival time and arrangements. Amazing building in a rural setting with easy access to surrounding historic villages and Bordeaux. Great walking opportunities around the surrounding chateaux and viticultural community. Beautiful historic church within easy walking distance. The accommodation itself is well maintained while keeping lots of its original character. This was a highlight of our trip to France.

Mostly the host. Best for our entire 2 months on the road. If we had a few days more, we might have to adopt them as family.

Beautiful, quiet location, with facilities nearby in local town. The garden was lovely and we had use of the swimming pool if we wanted.
