You can not beat the view. The whole retreat felt like one big meditation session. The staff was great. The main host had an incredibly calming aura that matched the serenity of the location. I have high anxiety and that retreat was the least anxious I have been in years. The owner was great too. He gave me a free trip to the airport and was a great conversationalist. This would be a great place to write a book.

I loved staying here. At the beginning I thought it was going to be far from the center of town but they have a car and driver that can take you to town and back whenever you want. They also can pick you up from the train station. Amazing service! Staff was very nice, specially Aja the driver that we had those days (not sure how to write his name). The room was clean, mattress and bedsheets very comfortable, the bathroom was very big with a nice bath.

There were so many activities for the kids, they loved it (and so did I because I got to relax and read my book!). Staff was also excellent, very accommodating. Food was fresh, vegetables coming from the lodge's organic garden.

After weeks of 'normal' backpacking hotel we chose Madilao for a little more comfort. It was the best thing that we could have done to chill and relax. We also loved to be a little out of the centre of Luang Prabang (amazing city by the way). Madilao is such a beautiful hotel and we enjoyed every minute of being there. It looks very amazing, the rooms are big and comfortable and the personal is super friendly and took care of all of our request accordingly. A huge thank you to the Madilao hotel and all her staff.
