To be honest, one of the best stays in Albania. The staff was so polite and kind where they asked us several times if we needed something. We also got the chance to speak with the owner because he was a guide himself for like 15 years and he helped us with a lot of information for the treks and everything. He was a gem to that place. We got to see a beautiful baby around who was the highlight. She was so beautiful and happy kid. Would always wave at us. So precious! The food was delicious. It was a set meal for 16 euros per person and included everything you could ask for. My partner who is a vegetarian and gluten free got vegetable instead of meat and a pie with corn flower instead of byrek ( their traditional pie). I got amazed how they also respected his needs because in Albania he has suffered a bit to eat because of this. The breakfast included cheese, honey( which was homemade), boiled eggs, butter, jam and some really delicious pancakesss. Omg loved loved them. They also offered picnic lunch for the hikers which was 5 euros per person. It had everything you need for picnic and to be honest beside cucumber, tomato, salami, cheese, apple, bread they also managed to fry different kind of vegetables who made it more complete and delicious. So in overall an amazing stay and so pity I didn’t reserved for two nights or more because I wanted to stay more but they were fully booked.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to wake up at 5 am to go on a hike, and they made us breakfast the night before for us to take it on the hike. That was very kind of them. And also the place was very beautiful and comfortable.

I had a wonderful stay at Guest House Natyra. The location is perfect, surrounded by stunning mountains and beautiful nature – a true escape for anyone who loves peace and fresh air. The food was wonderful - very vegetarian friendly.

The food was wonderful - very vegetarian friendly. The rooms were so peaceful with a gorgeous view. The backyard was well-kept, with a hammock and lots of places to lounge after a long day of hiking. And when we needed to arrange a ride back to Shkoder, the staff at the homestay was able to help us connect with a ride and arrange a price. It was a fabulous experience. They also (with a fee) allowed us to pay by cash or card, which was helpful for us.

A Hidden Gem in the Albanian Alps – Unforgettable Experience! If you're looking for breathtaking nature, warm hospitality, and a true escape from the noise of city life—Valbona is the place to be. We spent a few nights here and were completely enchanted by the peaceful mountain landscapes, crystal-clear rivers, and the genuine kindness of the local families. The traditional guesthouses are cozy and welcoming, many run by locals who treat you like part of the family. Homemade meals, especially the fresh Albanian burek was a real highlight! There’s so much to do—from hiking to the Theth Pass, to simply enjoying a coffee by the fireplace in the cool mountain air. It’s an ideal spot for nature lovers, couples, and families looking for something authentic and off-the-beaten-path. Don’t miss Valbona if you’re planning a trip to Albania. It’s peaceful, magical, and truly unforgettable.

This was a beautiful stay!

This was a beautiful stay! I felt comfortable and safe as a female solo traveler and the breakfast and dinner were delicious and homemade! I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone hiking the mountains!

Our hosts were super welcoming.

Our hosts were super welcoming. They looked after us well and sorted out transport to take us to the Valbona trailhead. Food (breakfast and dinner)was exceptional. Plenty of it, home cooked and locally grown. The guest house is closer to the trailhead than most others in the village. Altogether we stayed here 4 nights and we loved it.

Valbonë is a picturesque little village built along the road...

Valbonë is a picturesque little village built along the road in an alpine valley. When we stayed there (early June) it was serene and way less tourist-packed than Theth. The views to the surrounding peaks are superb. On the downsides, you could see that there's heavy tourist accommodation development taking place and huge hotels are being built, so it's on a verge of becoming a tourist trap and losing its charm. Staying there in the peak season may be far from relaxing. And don't rush it, stay here for 1-2 days and explore the trails. Don't miss the water mill on the edge of the village, and do the easy 8km one-day trail (see my pictures).

It is a wonderful location, worth exploring.

It is a wonderful location, worth exploring. There are so many things to do. The only drawback is the long journey to go there from the Tirana, the capital of Albania. I would recommend travelling through Kosovo as there are many places for stopover on the way to Valbona, including Prizren, Gjakova and Decan. Definitely going back.
