Surrounded by the Dolomites in East Tyrol and partially renovated in 2015, the 4-star superior Dolomiten Residenz - Sporthotel Sillian features a 9.8 ft² spa area with indoor and outdoor pools. The concept of this hotel is perfect and it is implemented perfectly down to the details. I was positively surprised by the "Marende", an afternoon snack buffet with soups, very good choice of salads, and fruit salad. After a bit more than a half day on the bike in the mountains, where you tend to eat less than you should, this is very much appreciated. Not only does the hotel have a good indoor spa and outdoor pool, it even has a small natural pond (very clean and large enough for swimming). No disturbing standby light of the TV. Clean style of the rooms with very decorative wood. Good lighting for any taste and lots of electrical sockets. They cook very well and the dinner has a substantial buffet component with lots of choice. The breakfast buffet has everything you could wish for at very high product quality. It also harbours pleasant local surprises. This hotel may not be cheap, but it is extremely good value for money.

Surrounded by the scenic Dolomites, Hotel Gesser enjoys a quiet location close to the center of Sillian in East Tyrol’s Puster Valley, just 1312 feet from the Hochpustertal-Thurntaler Ski Area. Very friendly owner. Good location to go hiking in the Dolomites (Lago Di Braies, Tre Cime). The rooms were basic and very clean! Good breakfast. Recommended to have dinner in the restaurant of the hotel (price quality very good).
