Lovely quiet stay, people lovely and lots to see if you are happy to drive. Cafe's were pretty good, even though Covid restrictions made it difficult for them not us though. The Fish Co-op on the waterfront had lovely fish and chips and seafood selections. The Distillery was excellent with lots of shared dishes and pizza was delish. Went to Beech Forest a quaint little town had lovely Devonshire tea at the Gallery next to the church. The Redwood Forest (was AMAZING and a must do) but be prepared for the winding roads that are quite narrow but everyone drives carefully, would have liked to have visited more of the falls to see along the backroads.
Our accommodation at the Sandpiper Motel was really good, I would definitely stay there again. We had dinner at the Apollo Bay Hotel, I will NEVER go back there! They served me COLD chicken wings that were inedible. When I told the waitress she didn't seem to care, there was no offer of a refund or replacement meal. Breakfast the next morning at Cafe 153 was beautiful, I would recommend going there for a meal, the staff were very nice and the service was excellent.
We love Apollo Bay have Visited many times we love the cafes and especially Chriss restaurant in Skenes Creek beautiful views from there and also its an easy drive from Apollo Bay to Port Campbell and the Twelve Apostles. Beautiful beaches and plenty of accommodation all in all its a great experiance and we will ne back.
Apollo Bay is a great hub for exploring the great ocean road, four of us took two cars and walked the sections of the great ocean walk by car shuffling. It was nice to come home to a comfy bed and enjoy a beer in the pub in the evening. Don't miss a walk up Mariner's Look out. I had my first savoury crepe in Waves and it was fantastic.
Apollo is very great village, I lived in a property closed to the centre of Apollo( 5 minutes by car ). The center is very live and has a good supermarket. Walking around the area was very enjoyable, especially as the weather was sunny.
Apollo Bay is a gorgeous, seaside township nestled on the Great Ocean road about a 3.15 hour drive from Melbourne. The drive along the Great Ocean road is worth the trip alone. Spectacular scenery and water views. Once in town, there is a good variety of local restaurants from fine dining to budget pizzas, pub food and don't miss the crayfish and seafood offerings at the brilliant Apollo Bay Fisherman's Co-op above the harbour. There is also a local Gin distillery offering a gin flight of different styles and there's a Tastes of the Region centre where you can get various wines and also local craft beer samples. The beach is great for surf fishing, swimming (bear in mind the water is very cold) and body-boarding. Also, plenty of surfers try their luck with the right hand break, off the rock wall which protects the harbour. Beyond that there is a fantastic beach trail to explore. You can also enjoy a seal rock boat tour and Otway National Park bush walks. You can easily walk the main shopping street and beach area and there's plenty of parking.
Our sweet cottage was absolutely ideal for our romantic trip on the Great Ocean Road;only a block or two’s walk to the main street of restaurants and shopping, the beach, and a well-stocked grocery store; comfy bed, glamorous two-person tub, and upscale design, especially in the expansive two-person bath, which was as beautifully appointed as one in an upscale Melbourne CBD hotel (actuallly, nicer and more lovely than the one we’d had in exactly that kind of place the night before, at two and a half times the price...) And perfectly clean and fully sand-free, unusual for something so close to the beach! Breakfast was expansive and delicious - hot breakfast to order was done perfectly, offerings on the buffet extensive and delicious. (Room’s minibar looked promising, too, though didn’t end up trying anything.) Staff is sweet, helpful, and knowledgable but never pushy or obtrusive! Gave us great tips for dinner and road experiences. Would definitely stay again.
The best place to stay in apollo bay, it has a magical views facing the ocean. This apartments has almost everything thing you might need , full equipped kitchens and play stations and more. There is one of the staff named Evan, when we forget our passports in our room he supported us, helped us and stayed with us until we got our passports back. I’ll be back here not only because what I liked about this place, it also because the service that we had especially from Evan.
Peaceful location with amazing views of the oceab and only a short 5min drive to the beach. The staff and managers are very kind, considerate and welcoming. The place is clean and well maintained and facilities such as BBQ and tennis court made our stay exciting. There are cute Koalas and birds that visit you in the morning and be prepared to witness a spectacular sunrise so remember to bring your camera!

The rooms were large and clean, with good facilities. Very happy and enjoyable stay. Great location, beautiful and quiet, and only 2 minutes of drive to shops and restaurants in Apollo Bay.

Loved this owner operated property. Really nice people. The place was great and the in room washer and dryer were life savers for us. It was a little cold and windy when we were here so beaches were out and many of the restaurants were closed. Still we found food within walking distance.
