Fabulous small town right next to the beach with nice food...
Fabulous small town right next to the beach with nice food options. Great coastal walk along boulder strewn headlands, backed by coastal vegetation and white sandy beaches. A nice bit of exercise takes you up to Whalers Lookout for glorious views of Bicheno and its bays and beaches. Another viewing platform looks over the narrow harbour of The Gulch, sheltered by Governor Island where seals are often seen easily from close by.

Bicheno is a fantastic little town, it's the perfect size,...
Bicheno is a fantastic little town, it's the perfect size, it has all that you need for a beach holiday. Lots of beaches, swimming and fishing spots, shops, a pub and some amazing food and drink places.
The Bich and Bicheno Brewery both have a really great atmosphere and friendly staff, highly recommend visiting them for a sample of the local ale, wine, gin and/or whiskey.
Food and Brew are great for Coffee, breakfast, lunch and tea. Again, friendly staff and really good food.
The local surf/clothing shops are full of really nice clothes/shoes/bags/hats/jewellery/toys/trinkets etc, most definitely worth visiting.
As are the little bakeries/cafes/coffee shops, all have some really cool things to eat or buy.
Rainy Days Laundrette and Ice Creamy is a must, so many flavours to choose from....and be sure to check out the massive jigsaws on display, completed by the owners.
Bicheno is a very friendly place, it's easy to get around and has lots to see and do, highly recommend visiting. We will definitely continue to visit there whenever we can.

Nice little town, lovely and clean and people were friendly.
Nice little town, lovely and clean and people were friendly. Public toilets were very clean and accessible.
Iga was well stocked we were able to grab the necessities plus some warm gloves and beanies at a reasonable price.
The blow hole, though only a small one ( so don't expect a hugh blow) was still good to see. The young kids there with other families were excited and enjoyed watching the water spray up.
The Bicheno penguin tour was great, very informative, our guide Matilda was lovely and very knowledgeable you could tell the little penguins are her passion. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend.
The beer and co was lovely, very welcoming and accommodating when ording pizza just before thier closing time which was delicious and warmed up well for breakfast the next morning 😁
We will return for sure and next time it will be for a longer stay to explore some more.

Lovely little town with beautiful vistas.
Lovely little town with beautiful vistas. You can enjoy just Bicheno or use it as a base to explore other interesting and beautiful places. The drive from Hobart is amazing with good roads and picturesque scenery. Loved it!! Bicheno is easy to get around and the Food and Brew Cafe was delightful. The Bicheno beams laser light show was enjoyable....an event in the winter. It was chilly but a more comfortable temperature than Hobart in July, but hey we were here in winter

A very beautiful part of Tasmania and Australia. The devils in the dark and the penguins were both fantastic tours.
The Lobster Shack should NOT be missed.
Just a wonderful place to have visited and I would return again anytime I could!

Bicheno is a lovely small town, the natural beauty of the east coast of Tasmania is honestly spectacular. Some nice coffee places with a surprisingly excellent patisserie in this corner of the world :)

It’s a great location with lots to do. We stayed three nights and did day trips to Freycinet & wineglass bay, St Helen’s & Binalong Bay,
walked the Bicheno whale trail, blow hole walk and did the penguin tour. We loved the friendly staff. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower too. We ate next door at the pub every night enjoying delicious food. We loved the sunrises & sunsets from our beachfront room. We will be back.

I didn't expect this cottage-style accommodation in Bicheno, Tasmania, to be such a great value for money. Kitchen and laundry facilities available. Rooms were spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. Parking at the front door was most convenient. The cottages are at a prime coastal location. Our cottae had a stunning sea view, with easy access to beaches, town amenities, and attractions like the Lobster Shack.

Absolutely beautiful little place to stay on Tasmania's east coast. The Pear cottage I stayed in was the ideal size and is fitted out with high quality amenities, from the Sheridan towels to the JBL speaker. Even the pans and cookery utensils were from higher-end brands. Everything felt very premium and well thought out. Will definitely be back soon!

Perfect place for vacation. Excellent location. Amazing Bicheno. Wonderful dream vacation. If only I knew before how nice is this place I would stay there during all vacation in Tasmania. Supermarket very close. A lot of nice cafes and coffee places. Delicious Lobster Shack 7 min walk from Gaol House Cottages.

The property is exceptional - entire property and the rooms were very clean. The views from the room are breathtaking, and the private beach accessed from the property is amazing. The penguin show was great. And we were lucky to see a Tasmanian devil on the grass outside our balcony.
