Bunbury has a really good foreshore, great for kids, the foreshore along Koombana bay has been extensively renovated in recent years along with the Dolphin Centre and now the new lookout. There is plenty to do for families and a great place for couples to unwind
The rooms were clean and tidy, the location was fantastic, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was within walking distance to the shops, beach, restaurants, pubs and the Dolphin Discovery Centre. I have stayed there many times. I will return again.
Bunbury itself was a good base to enjoy a short vacation. The dolphin discovery centre was excellent. Plenty of eateries in town. On site restaurant provided good quality meals and service with a smile. Our internal budget room this visit was adequate for our needs- clean and comfortable bed. We were outdoors most of each day, so a view was unnecessary. The settee in the room did have a hole in one of the seats, which I alerted the receptionist to when we arrived. Our one disappointment was leaving a phone charger plugged into the wall ( minus cable and phone)in that room- and when we got home and called reception to notify them we were told it could not be posted onto us.... we would have to return to collect it. I would have gladly paid the postage. As a customer who has stayed there before that was not the response I would have expected.
I am very familiar with Bunbury and I always enjoy my visit as it has good shopping and eating places. I like a pizza lunch at the Parade Hotel on the estuary so that I can sit near the water with a good view of the mangroves. Bunbury CBD is very easy to walk around and there is a diverse range of shops to choose from. It is a short drive to the Back Beach where you can park your car and have a lovely walk along the sealed path which gives you great ocean views. It is great to see the big ships waiting to come into port and also the granite rocks on the shoreline just north of the Cafe/Restaurant. Koombana Bay is a wonderful place to take the family for a half day outing. The beach and the playground are guaranteed to wear them out and the Cafe is right there ready to feed you after a hard mornings outing.
Bunbury is a great coastal town just 2 hrs from Perth, with many attractions, such as the dolphins which visit Koombana Bay almost daily. The Dolphin Discovery Centre has been recently upgraded and offers interesting exhibits for families as well as a good cafe/restaurant. Lots of lovely swimming spots at various beaches in the summer.
Bunbury is much improved from 20 years ago when I last visited. The improvements around Koombana Bay and the old wheat silos that are now the big hotel was amazing. It would seem that the town has really tried to make improvements in that area. Plenty of cafe's and restaurants in the main street though not all are open I guess that is the same everywhere at the moment. The road from Perth to Bunbury is much improved too with Forest highway and even the old coast road which has plenty of passing areas unlike when it was single lane all the way from Mandurah. The dolphin exhibition was worth a visit though a bit expensive at 18 dollars for adults.
Awesome place to stay. Staff were so friendly & helpful. Villa was nice & clean. Lots of space, great location & lots to do around the park. You have everything you possibly need for a holiday, without having to take anything but your clothes😁👌
