I was attracted to staying at the Blue Jacket Motel once I saw the photos of the room on the website. It was our wedding anniversary and we were spending the weekend in the local area. Following a beautiful lunch at Antica in Carcoar we arrived at the Blue Jacket and everything was even better than I imagined. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and arranged, wonderfully comfortable and contained everything we needed. It was clear that a great deal of thought had gone into the refurbishment of the room. An evening sitting drinking the local wine and cheeseboard we brought with us (though more was available in the room), talking and looking out at the view, as we listened to the Nat King Cole record on the record player discovered in the room was simply perfect. This was followed by a very restful night in a perfectly comfortable a spacious bed. This was the most 'hotel' experience I have ever found in a motel in a regional area. Simply perfect! Easily go back there again.

It was very well appointed & stylish. We really appreciated having all the necessities to go with the fire pit and a generous, delicious breakfast provisions. It was all very easy & very enjoyable.

Quaint, charming country town which has retained its character. We visited the fossil museum and found it very well set up and informative. Our main reason for visiting was to have a hot air balloon ride to celebrate my special birthday, which had been interrupted by Covid.

Canowindra has a fascinating, historical main street with many craft/2nd hand book/bespoke gift shops. Also the Museum of Fish Fossils would interest many visitors - there is plenty to see.
The Old Vic Hotel provided a restaurant dining room dinner and Perennialle Plants has a delightful cafe attached to its large gift and plant nursery shop.

The town center is typical of small country towns, in a bit of a time warp but surviving all the same, the towns people as expected are friendly and keen to help. We found the local Return Services club served good meals as did some of the local cafes.

A lovely country town.
A lovely country town. We used the town as a base for hot air ballooning. The Emporium is a fabulous store and you can pick up great, more unusual, items there. We had a lovely meal at the Old Vic Inn and I'd highly recommend dining there.
