This is a hidden gem! I’ve stayed in many motels while traveling through country areas, and most are either outdated with old 70s bathrooms or have had basic, cheap renovations with no sense of design. This motel is a breath of fresh air—it’s been beautifully renovated with high-quality materials and a real focus on style and comfort. The bed was incredibly comfortable, better than anything I’ve experienced in a country motel—more like a big-city 5-star hotel. The WiFi worked perfectly, and the room was modern and thoughtfully designed. For the quality provided, the price is more than reasonable. If you’re tired of the usual country motels, this one will completely change your expectations. Highly recommended!

The nearby Warrumbungles are fantastic.

The nearby Warrumbungles are fantastic. So is Siding Springs and I had a good bushwalk past sandstone caves north of Coonabarrabran. The town has good facilities - Woolworths and takeaway shops. The NRMA mechanic was very helpful.

We were in Coonabarabran for the Coonabarabran Cup race...

We were in Coonabarabran for the Coonabarabran Cup race meeting over the October 26th & 27th weekend. There was a hive of activity over the weekend in all the Hotels and the bowling club. Plenty of food options. A nice town to visit and stay.

Ideal place to have an overnight stay after driving for max.

Ideal place to have an overnight stay after driving for max. 10 hours including regular breaks. Good range of takeaway food places and the local Woolworths supermarket. Very easy to get around Coonabarabran with the highway being the main street.

It has an excellent Chinese restaurant.

It has an excellent Chinese restaurant. The Siding Springs Observatory was fascinating. The Warrumbungle Nation Park is lovely. Star gazing at the motel we stayed at was amazing. It was a classic example of how so many little towns in Australia have so much to offer when you dig below the surface.

I was off season so with clouds and some rain everything (...

I was off season so with clouds and some rain everything (star gazing) was cancelled just hour before they commenced. There is nothing else to do here, 6hrs to turn around and go home. The landscape is the same as the rest of country NSW, nothing special to see here. No activities, no nice places to dine or breakfast. You can see clear sky's and stars from almost any country town or camp off the populated areas. The Sydney Observatory has a better experience come rain or shine. Nothing special, actually very boring and disappointing. Save yourself a long road trip and avoid unless it's clear and you happen to be passing through.

We always enjoy our stays at the Wagon Wheel Motel when travelling through Coonabarabran, we know that everything will always be ok with our room after a long journey North or South. The rooms and beds are comfortable, the service is always good, the shower is always welcome and we are never disappointed with our stay here. We actually look forward to arriving here.

The Receptionist was really nice & helpful. All staff were smiling and was saying hi. Bed was not too bad compare to other hotel. Room was spotless and been cleaned while away for the day. Shower is big and i think been renovated. Recommended.
