Darwin has the best of both worlds...a quiet hassle free city with endless entertainment options and great food...and some friendly locals who never fail to help out a stranded or lost tourist. It's a great modern city with lot's of old school, old values but something new and different in every corner. The surrounding country has lots of natural wonders and the suburbs hide lots of hidden historic gems - the night life is legendary and friendly.
Small capital city with a blend of country and city. Friendly multicultural place.probably the most relaxing city I’ve been to. Beautiful art, galleries, indigenous culture and foods. The sunset made me stop in my tracks. Had not seen anything like it in my life. Easy to get about on local bus or by taxi.
Hot and Humid great place to see, easy to get around. If you hire a car Bargain Car Rentals are the go, as they offer more kms. Litchfield is my favourite place, lots of history good and bad particularly with the war and cyclone Tracy. Very rich and interesting cultural experience learning about the indigenous history and Dreamtime. Waterfront is a must, excellent restaurants and bars throughout the City then you have famous outback pubs at Humpty Doo,Noonamah, Berry and Howard Springs, Batchelor and Adelaide River amongst others. Not forgetting the proximity to the Katherine Gorge and Kakadu.
This is our second time in Darwin and it was just as exciting as the first in 2011. Darwin has such a lot to offer in town and out of town. The history is amazing and the weather is glorious (hot and humid) but glorious. Staying in Cullen Bay is always great, close enough to walk in to town and also by the Bay for that wonderful view of the bay and glorious sunsets, with a water view apartment. The food in Cullen Bay is exceptional and you must visit Lola's, its quirky but so good. Food exceptional and staff even better. Love Darwin.
Bigger city than i was expecting . easy to get around with lovely mall down the centre thru to the Harbour front. The wartime oil tunnels was a cheap interesting attraction as was the aquarium. loved the Jumping crocodile tour on the Adelaide river. Litchfield national park was a close and easy drive with numerous sights within easy walking distance for this older couple in our seventies. Well worth the look. Unfortunately. for us, Kakadu was spread out over too big an area with most advertised sights hard to access apart from the wetlands at Corroboree Billabong.
UNFORTUNATELY, the towns economy appears to be based upon alcohol consumption by the local original owners... Interesting sights around the town, and amazing places to visit in Kakadu and Litchfield National Park.
We stayed for ten nights and we could not be happier with our stay. The apartment was lovely and clean with all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay including full kitchen, washing machine, Foxtel, WiFi etc. Location was great too, close to shops and very close to the Waterfront precinct. We enjoyed the complimentary buffet breakfast as there were a lot of choices. Staff were lovely too and easy to communicate with. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and will stay here again next time we visit Darwin.
Our room looked out onto the grass and the restaurants opposite- we loved being able to open the window and take in the atmosphere. Room was plenty spacious and checking and checkout a breeze. The hotel is perfectly located was access to the waterfront, restaurants, convention centre, festival gardens (the Darwin Festival was on at the time) and an easy walk into the city centre via the sky bridge and Smith Street.
A few minutes drive from Darwin airport and much more affordable than the other airport hotels. Close proximity to the Darwin sports precinct for those attending our participating in events. A nice swimming pool to cool off in the beautiful weather. A small room with comfortable beds. There is a laundry if you are there for a few days. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cheap price hotel with 5 star facilities, good location close to city, the staff are super friendly too especially the kitchen staff that prepare breakfast every morning, the lady is so friendly and always smile.. The hotel room is really close to 5 star hotel room.. love it.. just amazing..

Great location, walking distance to the CBD and Darwin Waterfront. Friendly staff.
Walking distance to city centre, markets and waterfront.
Close to the airport and not to far out of the city
We loved this apartment. The welcoming staff were lovely and building itself is very unique and impressive. The design is hollow and this provides natural ventilation and a lovely atmosphere. The rooms are well equipped and we were able to do the laundering and cook good meals. The pool and area are lovely and there is also a barbecue area at the end of the pool. The bus stop for Darwin is just outside the door [$3] and the marina is to the back of the hotel and there is a lovely pub [Lola's] and numerous restaurants and coffee shops nearby.
Wifi worked well. Nice pool. The 6-bed female dorm is actually like two rooms together (with a door to divide them if you want privacy), no bund beds, that's a nice touch. Breakfast is not included but you have coffee and tea facilities in the room, an electric kettle, and milk in the fridge (yes, a fridge inside the room!). The AC worked perfectly. Every thing you need for a comfortable stay in Darwin. Handy for the main shopping area and dinning. Not far from the esplanade for views over Darwin Harbour and the sunset.
The room was very spacious and clean, thanks for the air conditioned! Staying there was like being on a tropical oasis! There are lots of good and nice restaurants around
The courtesy car provided with the apartment was a great bonus. The staff were most helpful and delightful
