We went there on the 29th June as I thought I had cancelled the 28th June, however I was allowed to rebook for the 29th and my 28th was cancelled by the lovely lady at the reception. She even gave us a pass to the Lounge room. it was a wonderful day and could have been a terrible day for us.

FAQs about hotels in Darwin

Australia's Cyclonic Cocktail

Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).

The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.

A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.

Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

We only had a short time but when we were there the local buses were free for locals and visitors alike. We didn't get this information from the tourist information office but found out once we got to the bus terminus. the buses are free for 3 months from June to August. We particularly liked the museum and art gallery, which we visited twice and the botanic garden. Both have very good cafes and from the museum you can walk to nearby beaches for a very pleasant stroll.

Darwin is amazing the wave pool and the man-made safe beach; it is also full of natural wildlife and there are tours galore we went to Kakadu, if you go, I recommend yellow cruises and if you can, a scenic flight is a really good way, to see things you would not normally see. Even just staying in Darwin, the Kitchener Drive area is fantastic, lots of restaurants/cafes. It is a safe place for families with small children and going to the wave pool for the day was $8 per adult and less for children, if you don't like that there is a little man-made beach, safe from crocs and other nasties. We loved it, would definitely go again.

Darwin is a friendly city with lots of history. Museums and galleries a must to visit. The museum at Stokes Hill Wharf with all the information on cyclone Tracy is an eye opener as is the WWII bombing of Darwin history. Crocodylus Park is just fabulous, restaurants, eateries, clubs and markets are all great. Sweethearts is a great place for late nite partying to some good live music.Waterfront has many restaurants and cafes, I had the best barramundi lunch at the Green Fiddler Irish pub and lovely gelato at Trampoline. Next time I would like to get out further afield.

So much to see and do. Beautiful weather to escape the Adelaide winter. A friendly casual atmosphere is Darwin's greatest asset. Bucket list locations can be easily ticked off from a Darwin holiday.

Firstly you need to know this is an older motel style of accommodation. If you're looking for the Hilton this is not it, but, its clean, it is well maintained, the managers and cleaners do a cracking job. The towels are changed regularly, as is the bedding. There is a fridge and TV in each room but no cooking facilities. The hotel also has a nice pool and BBQ area. Air-conditioning was A+. Its in a cracking location on Smith Street so close to everything. Bars, Mindil Beach, Cullen Bay, Darwin Waterfront etc

Was great value for money. The hosts were so easy to deal with and very friendly. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony was absolutely amazing. Watching the storms roll in from a disatance. So close to all Darwin has to offer. I found it quite convenient and close to restaurants. And the waterfront is a quick scooter ride away. Absolutely loved the stay and have already booked another weekend in a few months time.

Location, near Esplanade walking park overlooking Darwin Harbour and within 100 metres of main city shopping, dining and entertainment facilities. Plenty of room to move about in apartment which provided all needed facilities. Received voucher to cafe and patisserie to compensate for tradesman annual checks which was a nice touch. Would stay again, highly recommended.
