We stayed in Darwin for R&R so did not do a lot except walk around the town & eat & drink. A variety of pubs & cafes. Hubby did a Barramundi fishing tour, but did not catch anything, but he enjoyed it regardless. We have been to Darwin previously & the sunset dinner cruise is a must. We hired a car & went to Litchfield Park which is great if you like water holes & springs. So many beautiful spots with waterfalls. Kakadu is a great experience also with plenty of culture. We did the 3 gorge river cruise in Katherine which exceeded our expecttions & Edith Falls is also worth a visit.Mataranka is worth a visit but not for a long stay, they have very basic accomodation & meals. They have a hot spring as well. The movie "we of the never, never" was filmed here. They have nightly entertainment which is just ok & a very talented whip cracker that is also there nightly, although at 8.45pm, might be a bit late for younger children. Adelaide River is iconic & just a good place to have a meal & drink, nice grounds. Pine Creek Tavern is also a nice little quirky spot for refreshments
I love the weather, the heat and the sunshine and big blue sky and walking the Esplanade and shops, so many places to visit and historical sites to see, art and culture, a little difficult getting around, taxis seem to be the best option. Mindil Beach Market is a must, and Parap Market too! Never enough time here, next time ……
My first visit to Darwin, hopefully not the last. A small, tropical and pretty city. Divine sunsets and friendly locals. Unfortunately the Mindil markets were not open during my stay but the Saturday morning Parap market was. What a great surprise, terrific food with excellent variety, many stalls selling everything from herbs to hats. The Red bus a great way to hop on and off various places with time between to meander. The Museum and Art Gallery was quite awesome.....and free admission which was lovely. A credit to the administrators. Went for a sunset cruise but in retrospect wish I had taken the Pearl lugger cruise instead to get the ambience. A great holiday and thoroughly recommend the stay, pack a bag of tees and shorts and get there..Trish
Big country city feel. People are friendly and there's lots to see and do. Walked around alot and felt very safe. Good food options available. Love all the murals and street trees (room for more though). A few scrappy areas that could be improved. Accommodation seems expensive for quality. Get out of City area and explore.
An amazing place to visit from the WW2 history to walking around the local gardens & street arts. Fabulous sunrises & sunsets, great food options & mountains of fabulous people... The list goes on - we will definitely be back.
Eva Cafe at the Botanic Gardens is a lovely spot for morning coffee or brunch. We really enjoyed our visit to Burnett House (National Trust) at Milily Point, and had an excellent guide there. The Tiwi Island day excursion was good but not as good as I thought it would be - lots of rubbish on the ground and 4 dogs followed me everywhere I went, I was frightened of them and couldn't get rid of them. The NT Art Gallery and Museum are excellent, however the Bombing of Darwin exhibition at Stoke Wharf was too basic and the film shown was disjointed and weird. Loved Litchfield National Park and swimming in the water holes.

Great value for money Great location walk into Mitchell st for shopping and eating Very clean and for the price great value I would stay again in a heartbeat Two minute drive from Mindel beach and famous market Free parking next to accomodation Location location location Only four stories which Is one of the reasons I chose this accomodation apart from location Lots of luxury hotels in Darwin but I was looking for unique and something that spoke to me of Darwin not a generic high rise that could be anywhere in the world
Fantastic family room, beautiful pool and excellent location. Great place to stay and walking distance to lots of great restaurants and Woolworths. Close to mall and beach. Comfortable beds!!!! Very friendly & helpful staff!! Lovely clean rooms and great facilities. Thankfully there was off street parking available, they did however recommend that you book this in advance if you can as spaces are limited. We loved our stay at Darwin City Hotel and would stay again and recommend to others.

The Metro Advance Hotel is in a great area. We walked everywhere we wanted to see except for the airport. We had a studio apartment and with 2 large grocery stores nearby it was easy to cook a quick meal. The laundry room was especially appreciated. The pool area looked inviting but it was closed for repairs. They offered one across the street but we didn't try it. There are nearby restaurants that cover every ethnicity, a mall for shopping, and beaches.

Checkin was easy via staff at reception desk. Staff generally helpful to the best of their ability. Beds were ok, probably in need of update. Air conditioners worked well. Sufficient space in apartment for 4 people. Location to marina and beach area was great. Only short drive to Darwin city and all attractions. Third floor apartment but lift available from carpark or reception level. Pool area was good with clean bbq.
Comfortable, spacious, good facilities and love how you can use the Mercure facilities as well as family had been staying there which made it convenient for us to enter the building they were staying in. Also enjoy see the food from the Chinese restaurant. Love love love the shuttle service to and from the hotel/airport so convenient the last thing you want is waiting for a taxi to and from the airport/hotel.
I was staying at another hotel in Darwin that was too loud so I booked a night at the Hilton to have a nice restful sleep and it was horrible. The noise from other hotel guest was so loud and I barely got 2 hours of continuous sleep. The coffee service the next morning took so long it was so upsetting.
good hotel up to the brand standard as long as you book into the right building. The licensee has two properties side by side and make sure you book into the property located at 116 The Esplanade and not 122 The Esplanade. If so comments apply: nice pool, responsive staff, decent breakfast buffet

There aren’t too many holiday apartments in Darwin. This was ideal for our family because the price was reasonable and it had everything we needed in terms of a washing machine, kitchen, swimming pool etc. convenience store and bottle shop close by. Could walk to most attractions. No complaints
I had paid for breakfast included - I'm a vegan and gluten free so the 'fruit' provided was not very appealing. It would have been nice to have a couple types of fresh fruit available instead of a tinned 'fruit salad' full of sugar. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel.
The Vibe hotel is located on the Darwin Waterfront which is just beautiful the rooms were so lovely and the view was amazing. The Hotel staff were so pleasant to deal with and could not help you enough. The restaurant and pool bar had beautiful food and the service was exceptional .
Staff were very friendly and good location. Hotel in desperate need of renovation; room very smelly and unclean with age ie: stained dirty carpets, mouldy bathroom, damp musty air, small bugs in room. Such a shame as the staff are wonderful and the location is perfect
Room felt like a jail cell. Rude staff to incompetent to check a guest in. I guess if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Don't stay here total dive. Stay at Darwin City Hotel much better same price at least they understand what the word customer means.

Excellent location to base yourself while in Darwin. Close to restaurants and the Darwin waterfront. Apartment was lovely; added bonus of breakfast fixings and a lovely bottle of wine. Secure car parking under the building was appreciated.
Parap, Darwin
Good accommodation for a work trip. Close to local amenities, hotel, takeaways, bakery etc. Area felt fairly safe and happily went for walks at night time. Good value for money.

Brilliant location , only a couple of minutes walk to Darwin Waterfront Beautiful tropical gardens Very comfortable room Close to the Darwin Hotel, surprisingly good food

The hotel is well positioned close to town and the room was spacious. The facilities were adequate for our short stay. There was plenty of parking, the breakfast was good.
Room was nice for a basic hotel room...good value for money also, but unfortunately it was not what we had wanted (or booked) for that specific stay.
