Located in Deloraine, Country Meets Town offers free WiFi. The holiday homes are composed of 3 bedrooms, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and 2 bathrooms. Flat-screen TVs are in the homes. It's very clean, tidy, comfy and cosy. The heater was very effective and all instructions are very clear and detailed.
Deloraine has a nice river with paths and parkland either side. It is a good jumping off spot for the Tasmanian north-west. It is close to Mole Creek where there are some good public caves to see. The skyline is hilly or mountainous while the land in between is farmland. It also has a train line through the centre of town and usually the trains (goods only) run at night creating lots of noise which is probably only apparent to visitors.
Deloraine (and surrounds) is very picturesque (beautiful mountain views) and a step back in time. It's lovely to walk along the river and there are interesting shops to browse through. I really loved the Folk Museum and Pioneer walk (and I would return there again). I had half a day in nearby Westbury and it's also not far to Devonport. Had dinner at the Empire Hotel which was enjoyable. Deloraine is definitely worth a visit.
Deloraine IS a drive through town, but STOP here, there is so much to see and do. Very creative place. I highly recommend The Deloraine Hotel. Cleaners are thorough and friendly. If you are going through to Launceston, then I recommend a one night stop over here. Galleries, Art studios, Antiques, Second hand stores, cafes, and bakeries. Even an Emporium. And if you need to stock up, Woolworths hidden out there as well. The information centre well worth the visit. REALLY ENJOYED my stay. :-)
A very pleasant regional town to visit. Locals friendly and courteous and ever willing to direct visitors to the local and regional attractions. One suggestion is to read food reviews for local hotels before heading into what could be a very disappointing experience. This establishment has form and we didn’t do our homework. Make sure you visit the Tourist Information centre and view the quilt.
Deloraine is pretty small town on the Meander River. It has an attractive main street for the visitor with a number of places to eat . It is within easy reach of places of interest in northern Tasmania such as other towns with heritage buildings,Cradle Mountain,Liffey Falls and the central plateau.
Beautiful town. Very central to the North, and easy to get about and see everything. Friendly people and lots of fantastic small villages nearby. Lots of dining options and don't miss the Jack the Ripper display at the Gothic shop. Ask for the "tour"
