Located 12 miles from The Dales, Ocean View Apartments offers free bikes, and air-conditioned accommodations with a patio and free WiFi. The host went above and beyond to make my experience memorable. Make sure to ask Nigel about the hidden Asia Pacific Space Station. Ask if you can feed the wild chickens or if you can be taught how to open a coconut. Every evening the host and his neighbors would have a drink to close out the night in a common area - they will invite you to join. They are excited to meet new people and share their culture. Although this shouldn’t be an expectation during your stay - they were kind to offer drinks, food, and transportation. It’s not a resort, but a true authentic experience of what life is like on Christmas Island.
Located in Flying Fish Cove in the Christmas Island region and The Dales reachable within 13 miles, VQ3 Lodge has accommodations with free WiFi, BBQ facilities, a garden and free private parking. Very pleased with our stay; make sure you get a room with a balcony to overlook the ocean. The communal kitchen was very well equipped. There were crabs in the back garden, which was a treat!
Papaya Cottage located in Settlement, 328 feet from the Indian Ocean and 164 feet from the Christmas Island National Park. Thank you for a lovely stay. We found the fresh bread, milk and butter to be a very thoughtful touch on arrival. The villa framed the tropical garden beautifully, the out side bath/ shower was the highlight. We would highly recommend your Villa Papaya to our friends and family. Wishing you all the best for 2021.
Located in Flying Fish Cove, 13 miles from The Dales, Island Time Guest Room has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi, a 24-hour front desk, and a shared kitchen. Roxanne and Tony were absolutely awesome! I really enjoyed their company and they were really very nice genuine people. The proximity to the beach and unbelievable snorkeling made this a trip I won't forget. I fully intend to return in the future with my whole family.

Very clean and well maintained. Loved the outdoor deck with sea breezes. Thoughtfully supplied with basic provisions for the day. Friendly and helpful owners. Friendly neighbours including the resident crabs.
A week is a good time to stay on Christmas Island. You absolutely need a hire car, and be prepared for driving on bush tracks, and lots of walking. There are (currently) limited places to eat, but they are all good. My top three attractions were The Blowholes, the Dales, and the Territory Day park look out.
Christmas Island has limited places to eat and you need to plan ahead as some places are not always open. The restaurant that is run by the Chinese Literary Association has great Chinese food, so do find out what nights it is open during your visit and make sure you pop in there. The Golden Bosun is the pubs name and considering the isolated location the meals are very reasonable and consistent with what you will pay for meals in Regional WA. They do a very nice steak. I was there for work but did find the time to visit some of the local spots, stop into the Tourist Information centre and pick up a map for $3 it is worth the investment. Warning for the caffeine addict, the local coffee shop closes at 1pm. This is located in Poon Saan. Don't believe Google - some places are no longer in operation so speak with your accommodation to find out what is open and when. The flight out time can change quite frequently so do check or you will be hanging around the airport for more hours than you might like to.
Great snorkeling lots of reefs and fish to look at. Can even fish of the jetty. Couple of restaurants for breakfast down at the Kampong. Do need a car to go around the Island with all the hidden beaches. And other eating places.
