Hotel in Grafton
Crown Hotel Motel has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Grafton. Certain accommodations at the property have a patio with a river view. At the hotel, all rooms include a closet. The whole experience was first class. I apologise for not remembering the ladies name that booked us in. I do remember her husband was the chef. The booking in was handled superbly. We were able to move into our room, which was spotlessly clean, at 12.30. All the meals were excellent. The staff were friendly. The beer was wonderful at a reasonable price. That’s about it. I would highly recommend staying at Crown & we will definitely be back.

Room was an old dump, lounge was dirty carpet was stained. Kitchenette was from the 60's. Water in bathroom basin only had hot, shower needed a good scrub, mould on shower ceiling. No air con in main living area. Window that looked onto motel walkway curtains did not cover properly so people could see in when they walked past. Very over priced & over rated by others, are you sure they actually stayed there. Bates hotel would have been better. Town was on valium. Where has the old charm of Grafton gone? I would give Grafton a big miss.
Sadly it was raining the time we were there which limited what we were able to do. But we walked the main street and had brunch with friends who live there, who we had gone to see on our way home from our big trip South. It looks like a lovely town.
We were just passing through on our way to Sydney, from Brisbane. We left Brisbane after 6pm Qld time due to delays. The difficulty with stopping at Grafton was that it was a long exit from the Highway to the Hotel in the dark. In a similar situation again we would probably drive on to Coffs Harbour.
I love how the motel with the cottage we stayed was with in walking distance of KFC and not far from the shopping centre and we loved walking over the bridge to the bowling and back to the motel we stayed in for 2 nights. 💗🙂
Great things about Grafton are the Grafton pool, the river, Shopping World, Heart and Soul coffee shop, See Park, Jacaranda Park. Of course you need to get to the Jacaranda Festival in the 1st week of November, to see the amazing trees, markets, shop displays, flower show, woodworking and boat displays, old car show, live performances, fireworks, float parade and the Jacaranda ice cream from 50s themed ice cream shop 'I Scream'!
Grafton has all the charm and beauty of architecture from different times and lovely avenues of old trees. It's the natural beauty of the magnificent river and the surrounding country that makes you want to stay longer.
