Surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges and local wildlife, Kookaburra Motor Lodge is located in the center of Halls Gap, the heart of the Grampians National Park. The location is great, not too far from the main street. The mountain view with the field filled with kangaroos, emus and few parrots is the best. Did not see any kookaburras but i guess that means that i will have to come back there. Very much recommended for the cozy stay in Halls Gap!

Halls Gap
Offering an outdoor pool, a tennis court and a games room, NRMA Halls Gap Holiday Park is located in Halls Gap. Location was fantastic. The cabin exceeded our expectations - it was spacious, clean and comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped too. There are a lot of facilities which we can use.
The views are magnificent. It’s definitely worth driving out to Mt William and climbing the track even if you don’t make it to the top. Take a jacket as it may drizzle in between the sunny outbursts. There are short and longer walking tracks from Halls Gap township. The Tourist Information has maps and a wealth of knowledge. We took an easier walk to Venus Baths with nice river and rocky views. Some of the waterfalls were closed so we didn’t complete the winding road to the look out. We bought food at the General Store to cook in our accommodation so we didn’t eat at Halls Gap. It’s a beautiful part of the world.
We have visited previously, but not since Covid. It was good to see H.G. has not lost any of it's magic. Everything still well kept & looking totally cared for. And there are so many scenic drives & walks to choose from.
I would recommend The Balconies / Reed Lookout Two spectacular locations from one car park. Only an easy 2km walk apart, both of these lookouts provide beautiful views of the Victoria Valley and the surrounding ranges. I don't suggest the trails to Splitters Falls fitting for cooked knees like me, it takes much longer than the 0.7km from the signs, considering too many vertical rock walks taking.
Second visit to Hall's gap, however this was just a stopover to break up the drive from Melbourne to Adelaide. Hall's gap is a beautiful little place to stop as it is the gateway to so many hill amd nature walks. There is a lovely selection of cafes, restaurants and stores in the township all within walking distance as well as many of the walks into the Grampian Hills. Highly recommend the black panther Cafe, the bakery, make sure to check out the home made fudge in the stores and the Indian restaurant was very good (they also have robots helping to serve food).
Very nice spot, flora and fauna, mountain peaks and waterfalls, great to see nature and not farm land and trees cut down everywhere for development. Need more places like this, very expensive grocery store go to Stawell Woolworths.
The scenery! It's just fabulous with the lake, waterfalls and mountains! Lots of places to stay from budget upwards. Plus the campsite, of course. Love the Spirit of Punjab restaurant! A one off just go but book first. Also Livefast cafe is excellent. I did Grampians Texture this year and would do it again.
Halls Gap
Location of course! It is right at the centre of Halls Gap. Close to everything, shops, tourist information Centre, swimming pool. Our cabin was right at the foot of the mountain. We had wild animals visited us at dusk. Kangaroos, Kookaburra and Cockatoos. Kids absolutely loved the experience. It was such a great experience staying in there and we all had great time. After dinner, we went for a short walk. A few trails were so close just at the back of the caravan park. Wish we could stay longer. Will definitely come back again next time.
Halls Gap
what did we like? everything! the cabins are amazing. we could have stayed there so much longer than the 2 nights we had. the overall design, fireplace, furniture, beds, outdoor spa bath, dvds, kitchen set up, views...you name it....it's perfect. Our host was generous with an upgrade too. this place is a winner. easy keyless entry...so close to halls gap and spectacular walks. we loved hiking knowing we were coming back in the afternoon to our spectacular lodge. we ended up cooking and staying in because the room was so nice!!
Halls Gap
My family and I love Halls Gap and after trying a few accommodations over the years found The Halls Gap Motel and have never looked anywhere else. The owners are beyond kind and friendly. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable! You can easily walk to town and restaurants. And at night, when the weather suits, the fire pit is such a highlight. Kangaroos around you, toasting marshmallows, sometimes meeting other guests with mountain views. We all love it!
Halls Gap
The townhouse is spacious with everything you need. There is a private parking space and the outdoor area is very good with comfy chairs. The lounges were also comfy. There is a restaurant within walking distance and the town is only a short drive away. Such a pity the emu's didn't come to greet us.
Halls Gap
This was our fourth stay in 2 years and the same excellent standard we have got used to was still there! Immaculate, well equipped and spotlessly clean cabins and hosts that were friendly and helpful as needed. The location is perfect for the attractions in Halls Gap and the northern Grampians.

Each of the 2 houses were very comfortable, well fitted out, very private and tranquil. The wildlife, in close proximity, included kangaroos, deer, ducks, and kookaburras, yet we were only 50 metres from the centre of Halls Gap!
