My family and I came up for a wedding and booked 2 rooms that were both spacious and clean. Beautiful area and in the evenings, the wild animals are out and about. They also have a function room, inhouse restaurant, and excellent WiFi that chances are, you're most likely going to use.

Hill End is an apt name as it is quite literally the end of the road. It is an amazingly authentic relic village of the gold rush era. I had never been there before and am glad I visited as it is genuine part of Australia economic history. We could have spent longer but certainly in one day a sense of the place is possible. A visit to Merlin's lookout is a must as is the Mining Museum on the way into Hill End - the most amazing collection of memorabilia form the gold rush era.

It is a fantastic place to visit and any stay will be too short. Everyone in the town are super helpful and go out of their way to make sure your time spent ther is just perfection. The only drawback is the lack of signage to places like panning for gold and museums/mines etc.

Hill End is a place for those interested in early Australian history with a number of old buildings and sites that are representative of the period. Photographers will enjoy the varied scenery. The town has limited options for meals with a hotel and cafe or the restaurant at the Hill End Lodge.
