Hobart is a great place to visit for a weekend or longer. The city is clean with fresh mountain air and lots of great places to walk. I did the Cascade Walk just 5km from the city and saw lots of wallabies. Sandy Bay is one of my favorite parts of Hobart to visit with lots of great eateries. I can highly recommend the Sandy Bay Bakery for delicious sandwiches, cakes, and coffee at affordable prices. Driving around town is pretty easy - traffic is generally light - just watch the one way streets - and lots of cameras on the road to the airport. If you want to get away and chill then I highly recommend a trip to Hobart :)
What a beautiful historic charming city. Easy to walk around, with many interesting sites. Some of the best bakeries I have seen as well as great pubs and restaurants, and Salamanca market on Saturday morning is fabulous. You could spend a week walking around this city before travelling further afield. Hobart has so much to offer!
its great ! but everything closes too quickly halal food is not easily discoverable ! its available but mostly phone calls don't answer your question. Port Arthur Historic Site is a must visit. Mount Wellington is a must drive up - the experience is in the driving ! if you can
My main reason for going to Hobart was to visit MONA, which I did on my second day there. My experience there was mixed, as I enjoyed most of it, but ended up having a profoundly negative experience towards the end of the day and left a bit shaken up. Otherwise, I did a bus tour to the peak of Kunanyi/Mt Wellington which was amazing and I saw lots of snow. I thoroughly enjoyed the food I had in Hobart and found options for all sorts of dietary needs, as well as some lovely drinks. I am from Melbourne, so it was a vastly different city experience, which was a nice change. There is a focus on fresh produce and artisan crafts which I really appreciated, though less convenient than a big city, which is probably not a bad thing. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would recommend Hobart to anyone who wants to escape the quick lifestyle of the larger cities and take some time to breathe.
Hobart is the perfect destination for consistently great food and booze, fresh produce, picturesque views and access to nature. A small city makes it easy to walk everywhere, taking in the architecture and beautiful houses (such as Battery Point neighbourhood). Some recommendations: all the seafood by the waterfront, bar-hopping in Salamanca, taking a ferry to both Mona Museum, and beautiful Bruny Island.
Hobart is a beautiful city that you will immediately fall in love with. The mighty mountains are feast to the eyes, especially in their snow covered looks. The city stands unique with its rich history and historical establishments. It is also a city of art and architecture. Hobart is definitely an ideal travel destination. There is a lot of good restaurant around Hobart. Specially Salamanca market is a good place to eat.
The location was excellent and very convenient. Close to central shopping district and to the waterfront and to where our daughter lives. Our room enjoyed a view of the river. The hotel staff were very friendly. The restaurant had a good atmosphere and food was very good. The dinner menu was not very extensive and after 10 days we had eaten through most of the options. The lounge area around the fire was a very pleasant place to enjoy coffee in the morning or a drink at the end of the day.
Great location in CBD; close to many restaurants and shops. Short walk to the harbour. Ideal for business persons or mature people requiring short term stays. Not a family hotel. Apartment was clean and neat but design overall not well planned. Limited storage for clothes; no suitcase rack. Quality bathroom, good towels. Great bed and pillows. Large TV, 55 inch. Free parking for members.
Great location in the historic waterfront area of Hobart. Very close to the heart of tourist Hobart with everything you need literally on your doorstep. The hotel offers not much more than rooms so this is important. Nice sense of history in the hotel which has been thoughtfully and tastefully renovated to create comfortable rooms with plenty of character. Very comfortable bed.
You couldn’t get a better location in Hobart - walk out the front door and you are right in the heart of the CBD. This quirky, eccentric and stylish hotel has superb staff, a new-age art scene feel, gorgeous little balcony bar, and adequate facilities in line with it’s price point. Fantastic place, and we would have stayed longer but they booked out over the weekend.
Hobart
Reasonably priced motel room with a nice bathroom, plenty of tea and coffee available as was milk in the fridge. Situated in a quiet residential street with beautiful old buildings a short walk away. Short walk to a very nice cafe for breakfast or a long walk downhill to the harbour for a great breakfast on the waterfront, near to Customs House Hotel.
New apartment style room, comfy bed, great shower. Small kitchen to prepare meals and Coles supermarket is next door. It was a 15 minute walk to downtown e.g. Salamanca Place, Hobart waterfront and Brooke Street pier. Some hills but otherwise an easy walk. Plenty of cafes, McDonalds and some restuarants in Sandy Bay around the hotel. Helpful staff.
Bay Hotel Apartments are located in Sandy Bay very central & convenient to restaurants & many options for takeaway. Reception staff are extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. The apartment was clean, comfortable, quiet and warm for our 3 night stay. I would absolutely recommend this property.
Restaurant meals and associated service was v. good. Cleanliness of room and servicing of room was excellent. Location, location...short walks to both water front and CBD. Hotel had a comfortable and inviting feel. Should we visit Hobart again we will stay at Hadley's. We will recommend to our friends.
Hobart
It is a well maintained hotel just steps away from the Salamanca market area yet retains a quiet charm. Room was decent size. Nice restaurant and bar in lobby that was recently renovated. Staff was very nice and helpful. Recommend this for access to all the activities Hobart offers.
The King Room was spacious extremely clean and well appointed. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the CBD (an easy 30 -40m stroll) to the harbour front and just around the corner from the numerous cafes, restaurants and bars of North Hobart.Free parking is available onsite.
One of the most unique boutique hotels we’ve ever stayed in. We were surrounded by art and history. Staff could not have been more helpful. The historic buildings made for a great locale for our Hobart adventure.
Very centrally located to the Salamanca market! If you are planning a couple day trip to Hobart and want to stay walking distance to the museum, market and Battery Point this hotel is ideal.
The apartments have everything you need to be self contained. Secure luggage storage is really helpful, as was the lounge to use while waiting for convenient SkyBus transfer to airport..
The hotel was clean, smelled lovely, had great facilities and the staff were friendly and accomodating. The location was great as right in Hobart CBD.
Hobart
The rooms we’re modern, clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel was great, short easy walk to most of Hobart CBD. Staff are great
Perfectly located in the center of the downtown with amazing view of the bay. Front desk team was very helpful, especially Brett who offered us a room upgrade and late checkout. The room was spacious and well-equipped. Great value!
Absolutely impeccable. Great modern rooms, quiet, central. Appreciated washing facility which was free of use. Professional and friendly staff. The same goes for the excellent restaurant where we had dinner.
The guys in reception were very accommodating, I had a job interview and had nowhere to go to get ready. The reception staff allowed me to check in early which was lovely.
