My main reason for going to Hobart was to visit MONA, which I did on my second day there. My experience there was mixed, as I enjoyed most of it, but ended up having a profoundly negative experience towards the end of the day and left a bit shaken up. Otherwise, I did a bus tour to the peak of Kunanyi/Mt Wellington which was amazing and I saw lots of snow. I thoroughly enjoyed the food I had in Hobart and found options for all sorts of dietary needs, as well as some lovely drinks. I am from Melbourne, so it was a vastly different city experience, which was a nice change. There is a focus on fresh produce and artisan crafts which I really appreciated, though less convenient than a big city, which is probably not a bad thing. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would recommend Hobart to anyone who wants to escape the quick lifestyle of the larger cities and take some time to breathe.
Hobart is the perfect destination for consistently great food and booze, fresh produce, picturesque views and access to nature. A small city makes it easy to walk everywhere, taking in the architecture and beautiful houses (such as Battery Point neighbourhood). Some recommendations: all the seafood by the waterfront, bar-hopping in Salamanca, taking a ferry to both Mona Museum, and beautiful Bruny Island.
Hobart is a beautiful city that you will immediately fall in love with. The mighty mountains are feast to the eyes, especially in their snow covered looks. The city stands unique with its rich history and historical establishments. It is also a city of art and architecture. Hobart is definitely an ideal travel destination. There is a lot of good restaurant around Hobart. Specially Salamanca market is a good place to eat.
Didn't like the crazy traffic, loved the Botanical Gardens and Mount Wellington. We used Hobart as our base for 3 nights while we looked around other areas so it is a good base for exploring Southern Tasmania
MOFO was about to begin and there was a excitement vibe within the city. Although cold and rainy, Hobart presented itself as very welcoming. We would have liked to see more restaurant options within the CBD.
This is a unexpected little modern city in Hobart with all the amenities and retail therapy needed after a 5 day road trip starting from Launceston through the coast-to-cradle. Great little city for the outdoor enthusiast, the have well stocked shops from the Kathmandu, MacPac, Mountain Equipement and more. Make this either your first or last stop, and time your trip to see the live Salamanca market which only is a Saturday.
Hobart
The rooms were newly refurbished, stylish, and everything we needed was provided, e.g. iron & ironing board, microwave & applicable cooking utensils, toaster & kettle, etc. We also had great views across the river to the city of Hobart and Mt Wellington in the background. We had dinner in the newly refurbished Dining Room restaurant onsite, which was truly exceptional! Our server, Elle, was utterly professional and an absolute asset to the Shoreline Hotel. Our meals were also exceptional. We had a wonderful stay!
The Crowne Plaza is an excellent new property right in the heart of the Hobart CBD. It’s a large hotel which has been extremely well designed. My room was spacious and had great natural light with a view of the city and harbour. The restaurant was great for breakfast - good service, reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The property should experience extremely good business with the opening up of the Tasmanian borders in the lead up to the peak tourism season.
Beautiful old hotel. Lovely features. You are able to explore the older hotel building, and there is a viewing platform at the top of the hotel for amazing views across Hobart. Our room was in the newer addition, which is joined to the older building with a walkway. The room was very spacious with a dining area, and lounge area. Great location to Salamanca and easy walking distance to the harbour and CBD. Free parking.
New apartment style room, comfy bed, great shower. Small kitchen to prepare meals and Coles supermarket is next door. It was a 15 minute walk to downtown e.g. Salamanca Place, Hobart waterfront and Brooke Street pier. Some hills but otherwise an easy walk. Plenty of cafes, McDonalds and some restuarants in Sandy Bay around the hotel. Helpful staff.
Hobart
Still in Tasmania after staying at Motel 429 for 2 nights. The accommodation was excellent, close to the centre of Hobart, the water and Sandy Bay shops. The room and facilities were excellent. We just wanted to get take away and come back to our room and relax which we could as they had seating and a small kitchen.
Location and price. We arrived at Hobart Airport - got the Airport Shuttle Bus in to Hobart and it stops just outside this hotel. It is very central to everything and we could just walk across the Salmanca Markets. Also the fact that breakfast was a cooked one in a beautiful setting was just great for the price.
Location is decent. 10-15 min radius walk to most places which is doable for most able legged. Price was considerably cheaper than alternatives left around Hobart so it's a good budget option.... But it won't be your flashy sort of hotel. Was a nice, simple stay for the price basically.
Hobart
Excellent location in a beautiful original Hobart building. The apartment had everything we needed including a kitchen (way better than a kitchenette you usually get in a hotel). Very short walk to Hobart's sites to see and lovely restaurants/cafes. Lovely host. Definitely recommend!
Hobart
My car broke down the morning after we checked out and i had to get it towed away to exchange another car from airport and they let my family stay for extra two hours till i get back. That was a huge favor. Thanks a lot to them for that. The lady on the reception was very kind and friendly.
Hobart
Fantastic location, just walk out the front door and you were on the waterfront, lots of great cafe's & restaurants within walking distance. Walking distance also to all the shopping malls in Hobart central area. Bed's were very comfy, apartment had very thing you could want.
Hadley's is a beautiful boutique hotel in the best location. The Victorian design made it stand out from any other hotel I have stayed in. Big beds, mini bar was a bonus, plus a basket of nibbles. Right in the heart of Hobart Mall, it was walking distance to absolutely everything!
Great location, very homely and suited our family perfect. Self contained with the basics and central to Hobart. Friendly communication with hosts. Heating was suitable for even Darwin residents!
Excellent value, nice modern and clean hotel room in a central location. Certainly didn’t expect something with a nice room and good facilities above a pub. Great cheap stay whilst on a car road.
Location is fantastic. Within walking distance to Hobart waterfront, shopping district and Salamanca Market. Apartments are spacious with everything a family needs.
Hobart
Fabulous location in the Hobart CBD . Property is apartment style , handy to everything (walking distance) . Restaurants 5 min from hotel .
Hobart
Perfect location, so close to everything. Room size was great for a family or longer stay. Kitchen was big for an hotel room.
Really handy to wondering into the Hobart city and waterfront, a lot of cafes and restaurants nearby
The rooms, staff, and food at the restaurant were amazing. I and the family really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were super polite, kind and responsive.
