Built in 1834, this unique and elegant hotel is located in the heart of Hobart's CBD (Central Business District). Love the orginal old-style decor of the hotel and yet provided a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Breakfast was great and so was service. Location was in city-center so it was very convenient for walking about. No on-site parking so it can be a bit inconvenient when staying with a car, but if you need to park only in the evening and leave before 8:30 am. anyway, then it wouldn't be a problem as parking space was not difficult to find.

We found a great general eating spot to suite any taste in T42 degrees, and the Drunken Admiral. We booked early as the Drunken admiral books out quickly and last time we missed out. The whole of Hobart I just love as has so much history. Tasmanians are so proud of their food and wine and it shows. They have preserved as much history in the buildings as possible - even the chicken shop. So much to look at!
Have been to Hobart many times over 15 years. Salamanca Place has become uber trendy with its range of hip contemporary home ware, jewellery, art and fashion accessories, as has its eateries serving great food - value for money when compared to prices of eateries on the wharf. And Battery Road is just a short walk away - with Monsoon serving yummylicious Asian fusion and there's an equally delicious Nepalese joint a skip and hop away. Best coffee is next to Customs House - Duca & Duca.
Hobart is a great place full of museums and restaurants, most of which are placed inside some of Hobart's oldest buildings. I love the architecture of a lot of the older buildings around Hobart. The main restaurant my girlfriend and I visited a few times was The Brick Factory, located off the Salamanca Market area. The food was delicious and was a very reasonable price. And the staff were very friendly. Hobart is a very easy city to get around of you plan to catch a bus or walk. Everything is very close to the centre. The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is a very interesting place filled with very interesting pieces and artefacts. Hobart Cat Cafe is also a very fun place if you like cats and a coffee. And Sweet Envy, located just up the road from the cat cafe, has a number of delicious desserts at a good price.
We had forgotten that in a small city like Hobart, there are some we very quiet times when shops and other venues are closed and CBD feels like a ghost town. On the other hand, everything was very accessible and within easy walking distance. Lots of vegetarian and vegan restaurants but mostly lunch venues.
The history of the place, the beautiful old houses still in use, care and maintenance of old buildings is commendable , lots of parks and gardens, easy to access city and Battery Point on foot. We stayed in Sandy Bay, on water front, brilliant area to explore on foot and appreciate the local environment. Easy city to drive around to, surrounding areas of Richmond, New Norfolk are teaming with antiques and old wares, priceless treasures.Da Angelo Italian restaurant is a favourite, fantastic Italian hearty food and great staff and wood fired breads and pizza. Chefs happy to make accommodate a special request menu.
As a city, Hobart is relatively quiet in winter. I think that shops close really early, before 4pm, and the transportation seems slow. On the whole, it presents a facade of a sleepy town but I liked and enjoyed the quietness for a holiday.

Our three night stay in the Tutor apartment was absolutely fantastic! The attention to detail that was put into designing and decking out this home away from home exceeded expectations in every respect. Rebecca was a pleasure to deal with and offered many great suggestions. The heated concrete floors were a dream as was the decor of the entire apartment. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hobart.

Location was good as it's very near to 3 Indian Restaurant. This will definitely help you to get Indian food almost any time in city. Remember most of Resturant open at 11 so it's tough to get Indian breakfast in this town. Best to hire car as otherwise all tour packages r very costly. Driving is easy and fun in Hobart. Airport to hotels taxi is costing 55 $, good to take self drive car from Airport. Also this hotal us naar to superstore.

We had beutiful room overlooking the brooke street pier and didnt have to go far downstairs to enjoy a local beer in the friendly bar and restaurant downstairs. Free wifi was a bonus and we were able to leave our bags with the hotel prior to and after checking out which was super helpful. Great hotel for business and holidays travellers of which we met both. Would reccomend highly to family and friends travelling to Hobart. Loved it!

Stan was lovely, giving us plenty of advice and local tips. Breakfast was great with a variety of cooked and continental options for great value. Parking was easy. The hotel is about 6 min drive from Hobart CBD but Uber was easy to get for night times and it didn't bother us throughout the day. Perfect if you need a clean, quiet, friendly place to lay your head!
