Travelers who stayed in Hobart near Hobart International Airport (HBA) have said good things about Travelodge Hotel Hobart Airport, Foreshore Hotel, and Prospect House Private Hotel & Restaurant.
The area around Constitution Dock and Salamanca Place is steeped in nautical history with lots to see and learn. There are cafes, restaurants, hotels, bars, and some shops. Salamanca Markets on Saturday morning in Salamanca Place is an institution with local artisan wares for sale. Plenty of eateries on Elizabeth St. Wrest Point Casino is a short uber/taxi from the CBD. The casino has several dining/bar options with a medium-sized gaming floor/pokies. The Chinese restaurant Kwan Ho is superb - book early to get a window table overlooking the Derwent River.
My favorite is the nature around the area, such as Mount Wellington and Bruny Island :) It was a pity I didn't have enough time to visit more places. I joined the tours, which were pretty good as a foreigner (not familiar with the driving system there). I also love the Salamanca Area! It's so pretty and vibrant! Any corner of those buildings is art! Unfortunately I didn't discover much cuisine there -- mostly tried the Asian restaurants for dinner because it's rare :))) The bus system is very good, but you can only top on at few locations (some even not open on weekends); however, you can still pay with cash when boarding. That's not too inconvenient :) I will surely plan more ahead next time, such as checking the schedule of different tours and book in advance.
Hobart is a great place to visit with lots to see and do. The Salamanka markets that are on each Saturday are fantastic and Port Arthur has so much history. The pizza place 'Room For a Pony' has delicious pizzas and the New Sydney hotel is a great place for a drink. Banjo's bakery is amazing. Great pastries plus yummy sandwiches. These bakeries are found throughout Tassie. Hobart is easy to get around but lots of hills and one way streets (remember this if you are driving).
No car required for Hobart itself. It was easy to access by walking. Plenty of places to eat, drink and be happy. A lot of options for tours whether by bus or ferry around hobart as well. Check out Evolve bar, it was a fav of an evening for a great cocktail and snack if you wanted. Prices were reasonable. Of course Salamanca market is always a good place on a Saturday. Plenty of food, drink and the odd trinket.
There is so much to do just outside of Hobart and it is a good central location to all of these activities. You definitely need a car to get around to these places unless you plan on forking out the money to do tours the whole time. Make sure you leave your half day activities for the first and last day of the trip so you can make your flights. Alternatively you can fit a tour in on the last day as some of the tour companies offer pickup/drop off at the airport if you book your flights accordingly.
Hobart is a beautiful place. Good for families. Has plenty of activities and markets. And places to visit surrounding hobart. We used an UbER to get around which was very efficient. But easy enough to drive as well.
The location was fantastic for a short stay in Hobart with no car. From reception, and then throughout the hotel, the staff were friendly and readily available to assist. Our room was spacious, with a medium-firm comfortable bed and very clean facilities. We very much enjoyed the pianist playing on the Friday night, great playlist perfect for relaxing with a drink, but not loud enough to stop conversation over dinner. Would, and have, recommended to friends looking for a hotel with a little more character along the lines of a boutique venue.
Hobart
The rooms were newly refurbished, stylish, and everything we needed was provided, e.g. iron & ironing board, microwave & applicable cooking utensils, toaster & kettle, etc. We also had great views across the river to the city of Hobart and Mt Wellington in the background. We had dinner in the newly refurbished Dining Room restaurant onsite, which was truly exceptional! Our server, Elle, was utterly professional and an absolute asset to the Shoreline Hotel. Our meals were also exceptional. We had a wonderful stay!
I picked the hotel because of its location: walking distance to Brooks Street Pier (Ferry to MONA), Salamanca Place (lots of bars and restaurant) and Hobart CBD. The hotel has been renovated from its heritage building into a modern and functional interior, relatively good contemporary aesthetic. The bed is firm and the shower is strong. My room is loft style, with entry into a foyer on lower level and stair to the main bedroom area on upper level. It has a balcony with view to the pier and waterfront (a very nice bonus).
Location is great, very central to public transport, shops and eateries, and a short walk to TMAG, waterfront, Salamanca Place, Battery Point or the Botanic Gardens. Room was basic but quiet and with a comfortable bed, tea & coffee facilities, bar fridge and ensuite. Staff were wonderful, so friendly and easy going. Price seems a bit expensive for such a basic room but it's not as dear when you compare with hotel prices in Hobart!
Great location in CBD; close to many restaurants and shops. Short walk to the harbour. Ideal for business persons or mature people requiring short term stays. Not a family hotel. Apartment was clean and neat but design overall not well planned. Limited storage for clothes; no suitcase rack. Quality bathroom, good towels. Great bed and pillows. Large TV, 55 inch. Free parking for members.
Very surprised by this hotel. Unassuming facade but the interior was very modern. The artwork was carefully chosen. The beds were too comfortable I want one for ourselves. The pillows varied in density and firmness which gave us options to use. The water pressure was spot on too. The wifi speed was the best we've had in Tasmania. The staff were all polite and friendly.
Hotel is conviently located with a short drive to Hobart CBD. The deluxe king rooms are beautifully renovated with magnificent mountain and harbour view. Love that the rooms are equipped with coffee machine, safebox, bath robes, disposable slippers. There are onsite restaurants and bistro which serves delicious breakfast buffet. The staff are very friendly.
From the warm welcome we received the moment we arrived, to the friendly farewell and help to the taxi as we left, everything about our short stay was perfect. There are very few hotels left that offer such friendly, helpful and authentic service. If you are in Hobart and don’t mind staying a short walk from the CBD, you’d be mad not to stay here.
Bay Hotel Apartments are located in Sandy Bay very central & convenient to restaurants & many options for takeaway. Reception staff are extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. The apartment was clean, comfortable, quiet and warm for our 3 night stay. I would absolutely recommend this property.
Decor, location, helpful staff, easy parking, lovely bathroom & toilet, really comfy bed, all mod cons in this recently opened hotel. Right on Salamanca in Hobart's harbour area. Everything you need is nearby, bars, restaurants, CBD, etc.
Hobart
Very centrally located with easy access to most of Hobart's attractions. Clean and tidy apartment with decent kitchenette. Can be loud from the food retail on the lower level. Parking available although limited.
The apartments have everything you need to be self contained. Secure luggage storage is really helpful, as was the lounge to use while waiting for convenient SkyBus transfer to airport..
Clean, larger than normal rooms at a good location about 10m walk from North Hobart cafes and 20m walk to Hobart CBD. Room was quiet despite being above bar area of hotel.
Possibly the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Spacious rooms, friendly staff, a must stay in Hobart
This hotel is located right in the heart of Hobart. Many great restaurants close by and a short walk to the markets. Very attentive staff, lovely room even though we were on the mountain side. The hotel overlooks the marina with great seafood restaurants near by.
The guys in reception were very accommodating, I had a job interview and had nowhere to go to get ready. The reception staff allowed me to check in early which was lovely.
Hobart
I really loved the location - couldn't have been better. The apartment was very comfortable and had a lot of natural light. All the staff were lovely.
Hobart
The price. The 70’s vibe. The staff. The breakfast.
