FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

Hobart has a small CBD with a well developed waterfront...

Hobart has a small CBD with a well developed waterfront precinct. It is full of original architecture which adds to the history of the city. It is very easy to walk to most locations and has a number of ferry services to the mmore distant attractions. The Salamanca area is fantastic and there are a number of short walking tours available to get a better feel for the area. The only downside to the city is that the main north south highway runs right throught the middle of the CBD which means lots of traffic at all times. Very polluting and loud, a big negative for the place.

city centre and waterfront linked and most things and...

city centre and waterfront linked and most things and atractions in city are easily walkable. with a hire car it is easy to travel around and though some streets are one way, they work and easy to get out of city to other sights thru freeways. We were 5 streets from city centre and post tour 3 nights found an irish pub close by for meals. not knowing city and eating places can be a little hard to find suitable restaurant locations, where you may need to prebook

Hobart is a very picturesque city.

Hobart is a very picturesque city. Besides it's amazing historical attractions it has so much more to offer. There's a plethora of amazing eating experiences, art, culture, museums and beauty everywhere you look. The natural landscape, which is so close to the city and surrounding suburbs is breathtaking. Going for easy walks or a challenging hike is easily accessible, from within the city area or just a short drive away. The location is also perfect as a home base if you want to travel to the south (Port Arthur, Bruny Island), or along the stunning east coast (Freycinet National Park, Maria Island). There is so much to see and do it's an overload to your senses. We loved all the places we visited in Tasmania, and everywhere we went the people were very welcoming and friendly. We wish we didn't have to leave but we will back again, and hopefully very soon.

We arrived on a late evening flight, and the hotel made arrangements for our after hours access to our room - these arrangements were made by the Motel at the time of the booking, so we had everything in place well ahead of the trip. The hotel is surrounded by a variety of restaurants and a supermarket, so you do not need to travel far for great meal options. However, the location is close to Battery Point and Hobart CBD, so you have many options. The rooms are spacious, the shower is hot, and the towels are plush.

Room was massive, bathroom was modern with everything you needed. Nice coffee setup. Cleanliness was 10 on 10. Staff were super efficient and the icing on the cake was when the lovely woman at reception offered us her free parking in front of the hotel so we could spend the day in Hobart without having to look and pay for parking on a busy Saturday. Location was also amazing, right in the wharf central area. We enjoyed our stay here ..I'd highly recommend to anyone.

Good sized, well laid out and equipped studio. Corner unit so windows on 2 walls made in light and airy. Leafy outlook. Newish bathroom with good shower. Table and chairs for eating or looking at maps to decipher the bewildering matrix of one-way streets in Hobart. Kitchenette well equipped with dual hot plates. 20-25 minutes walk to waterfront. Uphill on the way back but plenty of $2 per hour parking stations in the CBD, or first hour free at the Woolworths one.

This property exceeded our expectations with the hosts going above and beyond to offer a unique, Tasmanian experience. Lots of complimentary extras included which were a lovely touch - most of which we didn't have time to take advantage of but the thought was appreciated none the less! Nice to see an accommodation live up to the word "luxury" that gets thrown around alot - no cheap kmart furnishings or supermarket shampoo here. Everything was quality.

This is the best location in Hobart, in my opinion. The views are gorgeous, and you're right on Salamanca and can walk to everything. I never hire a car when I stay at Lenna. It's a central location without the truck noise of the hotels in the CBD. Happy Hour drinks in the beautiful bar is a delight -- gorgeous space with gas fireplaces. I love it.
