I had come to Tasmania for a conference. The location was perfect as all the main attractions including bus stops were at a walkable distance The hotel overlooks the beautiful harbor which can be visualized at every floor. The Atrium bar at the ground floor was reasonably priced with a lovely ambience Rooms were spacious, very clean and I was pleasantly surprised to see there was an iron and an ironing board. There were sufficient charging ports, seating and the single beds were almost queen sized A good selection of complimentary tea / coffee/ dairy and biscuit refreshed every day, without fail. Staff were also friendly and ready to help

FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

We mainly stayed around the wharf area but did take the Hop on Hop off bus for a 1.5 hour tour around the city and outskirts which was very informative. We went to the Taste of Summer festival which was worth a visit.

The city was a wonderful surprise.

The city was a wonderful surprise. The architecture has been preserved and thankfully they have ensured that no skyscrapers will be built. It's like a walk back in time, and a nice coexistence of past and present. Would have liked more days to enjoy the city and surrounds. Bonus, no heavy industry means clean air and no haze. You will need a hat and or sunscreen for the sunny days as the sun is stronger due to less ozone and no pollution.

Hobart is a beautiful city with lots of historic stone buildings and large mature parks. It is a foodie paradise with fresh seafood and the best bakeries that I have seen anywhere. The hop on hop off bus will take you to historic sites like the Cascade Womens Prison and the Cascade Brewery. Very interesting to visit. MONA is a must visit by ferry. It is world class and was the highlight of our trip. Interesting fact, Hobart has the second least amount of rain of all the cities in Australia.

Great location in Salamanca across the road from the waterfront. The university across the road obscures the water views, but a short stroll away you have restaurants galore and the Salamanca markets. Stylish rooms. Our second stay at this hotel, a great jumping off point in Hobart to start your holiday. Has kitchen facilities in room and washer/dryer. We arrived after hours but received a phone call from staff that afternoon explaining after hours entry procedure, followed up by an email with all details again explained and confirmed.

Loved our stay at Crowne Plaza Hobart! It's in the perfect location, close to shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is super clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedding is some of the most comfortable I've experienced in a hotel and now I need to know the pillow brand so I can buy some! We were also pleasantly surprised to discover that the breakfast that was included in our rate was a full buffet breakfast with barista coffee rather than just continental breakfast as advertised. Would definitely stay here again!

My studio apartment was very well appointed - the kitchenette had everything I needed to prepare meals and the washing machine and dryer in the room were super convenient for a week-long stay. The room was very spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. Location is also convenient - a short walk to the waterfront and into the CBD, with the added convenience of an airport bus stop at the front door. Also plenty of cafes and restaurants, etc in easy walking distance.

Hadley’s orient hotel located in the best area of Hobart. The hotel itself is a historical building. I love all the details in and out-side the hotel. I am highly rated the receptionists( both check in and out), she provided my family a late check out so that we can stay a little long after a long day driving. Beautiful old hotel. Lovely features. You are able to explore the older hotel building, and there is a viewing platform at the top of the hotel for amazing views across Hobart. Our room was in the newer addition, which is joined to the older building with a walkway. The room was very spacious with a dining area, and lounge area. Easy to find, checking in and out was smooth, and the room was spacious. The best thing is the location - from here you have easy access to Sandy Bay's beaches, a short walk to Battery Point and then on to Hobart's waterfront area.
