The Studio apartment was great size with good facilities, the bed was super comfy. The veranda had breakfast bar with oven bbq there was also a 2 burner hob and electric grill inside there was a microwave and good sized fridge/freezer. The refuse was separated with 3 bins including kitchen waste which the site composted and used on the beds around the site. So many beautiful areas to walk and close to other areas to visit eg Minnamurra Falls. Safe rocks pools and safe beaches. Lots of eateries to choose from. We went out of season so parking good. Everywhere we went was very clean.
Kiama is a bit of an ugly no-real-style town but in a beautiful location that is easy to get to and from which it is easy to access other beautiful locations. The blowholes are awesome when the swell is from the south and worth the trip just on their own. The Bookshop is fantastic and always on our Kiama visit list. Coffee Shops, bars and eateries come and go and this visit we enjoyed Betty's (expensive) Bar and the Grumpy Bunny and lunch at Otis. Do some of the coastal walk - maybe you'll get lucky and pass the local bagpipe band practicing. We loved that.
We visited Kiama for a short getaway from Sydney. We were not interested in touristy things and dining out this time but it would appear there are ample places to dine providing you're not vegan. We did enjoy the coastal walk and availability of ocean pools in Kiama and Gerringong which we also visited. This is an idyllic part of the world and I cannot fault Kiama as a place to visit. There seemed to be a high proportion of dog owners and as I love dogs and all animals this is not a problem but it is a little off-putting when dog owners disobey 'no dogs' signs when they are usually put there for a good reason....though in all fairness this is not isolated to Kiama itself.
I lived in Kiama over 30 years ago (regularly visit these days) and it’s so heartwarming to see that very little has changed. It still has a small town feel. Warm, friendly people. Great variety of eating venues and specialty stores. There’s always the blowhole that has to be seen - you never tire of that. Although currently under renovation, there is Woolworths a block out of town. It is well stocked with a liquor outlet next door. If you don’t have transport, you can can everything you need within walking distance, including the train station. Gotta love Kiama. 🥰
Kiama is a great holiday location with a variety of accommodation preferences. Parking in the main street is at a premium though most of the signs show 1/2 Hour limits, we never saw anyone get booked for staying longer. Towns people are friendly and so were a lot of fellow travellers that we met along the way.
I found Motel 617 ideal for my stay over a very busy Christmas period of five days as a solo traveller. It was clean, comfortable, good value and the staff very friendly. I found it perfect for my needs with my being able to walk to my destinations to family on Kaleula Headland and also to the town centre. Restaurants were very handy for a solo traveller who likes to walk, and only for a 15 minute walk to each. I loved that there was a convenience store just one block up the road within five minutes of walking, with all the supplies needed and a lovely fish shop with salads and also a pizza house, plus a bottle shop. It was close to the Surf Beach and Kendalls Beach. I would certainly want to stay there again.
Clean apartment with beach/luxury vibes. Everything was thought out well. Has all the necessary facilities needed, coffee machine, iron etc. Extremely comfortable bed. Very organised. Beautiful design & home away from home feeling. Easy access to Kiama surf beach and short work to lighthouse, restaurants & shops. Owners very helpful and informative. Beautiful property would definitely recommend and stay again. Thankyou for the experience.

Lovely new hotel in the middle of Kiama. Well designed rooms which have all the necessities needed for a short stay. Great feature that you can request products for the minibar prior to arrival. Cute coffee van as part of the facilities with café tables/lounges, adds to the cosy atmosphere.
'Shutters' is special...beautifully and comfortably furnished, quiet and peaceful, situated on the headlands, with lovely views of the coastline and so accessible to the coastal walk, with a balcony that takes in views of both the sunrise and sunset. A wonderful place to stay in Kiama.
