Hotel in Kingscote
Aurora Ozone Hotel Kangaroo Island is just 10 minutes' drive from Kingscote Airport. Not much varieties for room service food and breakfast but food is delicious. We booked an ocean view room expecting a top floor room with a nice view but we got a ground floor ocean view room which did not have a nice view as the photos we saw on Booking.com. Room is clean and spacious.

Set on 20 acres, Kangaroo Island Cabins offer self-contained accommodations just 5 minutes’ drive from pelican feeding and penguin watching in Kingscote. Late arrival check in was a breeze. Wildlife straight outside your door, we saw kangaroos, tamar wallabies and lots of birds while sitting on the porch. I also loved the washing machine with detergent in the cabin!

Kingscote is the absolute heart of KI. Has awesome Restaurants and Cafes (Amadios Vino e Cucina, the Ozone Hotel and So Sando) and is so close to some awesome wineries (Bay of Shoals and The Islander) and KI Spirits, not to mention the KI Brewery. Awesome anytime of year. Be sure to take a drive from the Esplanade seaside to Bay of Shoals, the views are stunning.
Kingscote is a starting point for exploring Kangaroo Island, beaches, wildlife, wineries, etc. It’s the place on the Island where you have good access to groceries, dining options, museums, etc. Drakes grocery store is well stocked and well priced. Fish and chips are good and pizza also. It’s not far to the beautiful Emu Bay Beach.
Extremely disappointed in the poor number and low quality of eating establishments in the town. Only two evening meal restaurants were open and they were both dreadful in every way! Cafe Scrumptious was the only eating place we were prepared to revisit, but it closed at 3pm. Kingscote has no nice quaint shops of any kind and we left the island feeling the best way to see it is to camp and cook your own food!
We were provided many thing such as a modern coffee maker with real coffee pods (🥰), air fryer, a big welcome sign with our names on it, and Char stayed up until we arrived to the property near midnight which was really nice and we felt reassured that someone was there waiting for us after travelling near a thousand kms from Melbourne to Kangaroo Island. 👋👋👋🙏🙏🙏
I was in town for my art exhibit so it was part work. Some great cafes. Esp liked Cactus. Great wine and local produce. Didn’t have time to complete the coastal walk and return to more places nearby I would have liked to visit like the gin factory and the wineries. Could easily have spent a week just in Kingscote, but divided my time between the town, Flinders Chase and Vivonne Bay. Kingscote is a small town you can walk end to end in 10 minutes This was my second trip to Kangaroo Island. For those of us who don’t drive be warned there is no public transport. I took my bike and cycled. The roads were pretty empty and that worked well but for the rain and wind on my last day. Peter who runs a shuttle to the airport (Kangaroo Island Transfers) was great to call on when needed. He made a special trip to rescue me 20k south of the airport when after a hour cycling in the rain back from Seal Bay the wind was nearly sweeping me off the road. Locals are all very welcoming and friendly. A big arts community of writers singers, photographers and painters. Lots of scientists working on native fauna and flora. Some great citizen science projects. Lots of wildlife and wildflowers. The local gallery is fabulous - not just because they exhibited my work. Fred has an adjoining silversmith workshop with beautiful work. Fleur runs the gallery with him and really brings the community together. Everyone has a story to tell from the fires May well make a third or 4th trip! Made so many friends and I’ve yet to explore the north of the island. While mainly townships and farmland it also has pockets of nature reserves .
The town was pleasant, people helpful and friendly. One way system infuriating, constantly retracing the same couple of streets! Still feels like a relaxed country town, which is refreshing after the constant hassle of the mainland!
Kingscote
Good location just a couple minutes away from Kingscote. Easy to find, easy to get to all areas of KI from the cabin. Georgia was friendly and welcoming and very helpful when we had a little issue with our A/C. If you are after luxury then you won’t find it here but if you are after good value family accommodation and the ability to cook simple meals then I can recommend KI cabins. We stayed in a two bedroom cabin (1 adult 1 teenager) and we’re glad if the space.
Kingscote
Location and view Friendly magpie chorus in the morning The wallabies and kangaroos come close to the house Very quiet and peaceful Bed was comfortable and good shower Very clean and relaxing Lots of wildlife The host told us how to get down to the steps to the beach as it requires walking on a track on another property with permission Only short drive to Kingscote and the nearby gin distillery
Kingscote
The house was beautifully designed and very comfortable to be in. We were blown away that it had all the elements to resemble a full house but was at such a cheap price. Having a fridge and a microwave meant we could prepare dinner at home as opposed the struggles experienced at a hotel room. Additionally, the Telstra TV has Netflix provided which was a fantastic addition.
The location is very convenient to travel to all activities outside Kingscote. Right next to the hotel there is a pier with seals and pelicans and a playground for kids. Also a large gift store, a petrol station and a supermarket are in the same street. The room was cleaned regularly to a good standard. Breakfast was tasty and generous.
Kingscote
All good and awesome experience The staff is friendly and helpful. He recommended some places and eatery around in KI to us. When I booked my hotel, they sent me an email to ask me if I need ferry transfer and the staff helped me to arrange it at no additional cost. We have a pleasant stay there.
Kingscote
Modern, spacious, clean, well equipped and nicely furnished accommodation including private garage. Location was close to great views, walks and local shops within Kingscote. Fundamental breakfast and refreshments also provided.
Kingscote
The property was reasonably well equipped. Whilst it was self contained we decided not to cook but there appeared to be everything we would need if we had de died to do so.
A very nice situated hotel, every room offers a wonderful view on to the sea. The rooms were very clean and comfortable unfortunately we only had one night here.
