quiet friendly country town with fabulous views over market gardens & great sunsets. Next time we will stay later in the week to patronise local eatery 'Long Paddock' which was highly recommended.
Enjoy the marvellous view of the Mitchell River flats planted with rows of vegetables with the back drop of the mountains with amazing skyscapes. Drop into the Long Paddock for a delicious coffee, yummy cakes and their daily pies. If you are lucky there will be slow cooked meat baked in the rejuvenated bakers oven on the premises. Within walking distance is the renovated quaint Anglican church now converted to the cosy B&B Altar Ego. Relax in the peace and quiet of this country village which is only 15 minutes from the heart of Bairnsdale.
Cute 'in between' town with a lovely country vibe. The local cafe makes the best preserves and the scones are amazing. One or two nights is enough. It is a great place for a super relaxing weekend getaway to read a book. If you want dinner make sure you get there before the kitchen closes in the local pub (8pm).
The very friendly people we met - the pub owner and his wife, and also the couple who joined us for dinner. They turned what could have been a quiet, lonely evening into a memorable occasion. The very small town had just one hotel/restaurant which was within easy walking distance from our BnB.
Unfortunately I was there for a funeral. I visited the local cafe on two occasions and the lady had remembered my coffee order from the day before which was a lovely touch. I also had a drink with a drink at the Lindenow Pub. Lindenow is a lovely little spot and I did enjoy the peace.
