I am a huge fan of historic Australian motor racing. I chose to spend a night here to see remaining parts of the historical Longford circuit and the Country Club Hotel bar that once stood on the track. Sadly, the iconic parts of the circuit like the bridges and arched brick bridge are either gone or no longer accessible. Without local knowledge I could not even properly spot the Flying Mile on present roads. Longford's place in racing history has been over-taken by nearby Symmons Plains raceway
A lovely historic town with plenty to see and do close by. Very close to the Launceston airport as well (though you would never know). Great access to Launceston and all areas of Tasmania including the main highways south and west.
Longford is a quaint little town minutes from Launceston. The historic convict estates are a worthwhile visit, do yourself a favour and have lunch or dinner at Woolmers estate you won’t be disappointed.
Longford is a beautiful historic town which I have known annd loved for a long time. The reason for my stay there was to attend the Longford Jazz Festival which is a wonderful, friendly event with top class musicians playing at various venues around the town.
Longford is a beautiful town full of historical buildings, stories and friendly locals ... A big must stay on your next visit to Tasmania!!! I give Longford a big 👍 up !! Ps sorry people question 6 mucked up so my rate for Longford is above ⬆️
An interesting mix of the best of the old and the new. The local IGA's range was an excursion all on its own. They even had fresh ripe green gauge plums and the best plump cherries. Had dinner at Sticky Beaks and that was great - good food at very reasonable prices. The visit to Brigenden is a definite must do for anyone staying or even just passing through Longford.
