Boasting an outdoor swimming pool, free BBQ facilities and a free airport shuttle, Saltbush Retreat is a 3 minutes’ drive from Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum. Seamless check in with lovely staff, beautifully clean and well kept grounds & the most gorgeous accommodation. Stylish & quality, with very thoughtful touches.
The centrally located Longreach Motor Inn features free WiFi, a swimming pool, a sauna and an onsite restaurant. It features rooms with a flat-screen TV. Upstairs restaurant very comfortable. Continental breakfast was good. Also enjoyed an evening meal at the restaurant. Staff at motel and in the restaurant were pleasant and very helpful. I liked my studio apartment; very suitable for one traveller.

Lots to see and do Can also easily do a day trip to Winton to see the dinosaurs museum Friendly locals good coffee Iconic Australia School of the Air a great outing Book for the night show at the Stockmans hall of fame or you could miss out as we nearly did The Information Centre failed to advise in this regard
What a friendly town, staff at the Merino Bakery made a lovely coffee, great attractions all close to town. The cobb and co experience is great! The fact that hardly anything opens in the town on Sunday is very disappointing. I think there were two newsagents open and two coffee shops! All retail therapy was closed and this is the height of the busy season?? The only downfall with Longreach is you hopefully wont need a chemist on a Sunday as they dont open!! There are no doctors available on Sundays! I had to resort to waiting for over 2 and a half hours to see a doctor at longreach hospital! There is no other option but to visit the hospital on Sundays ! This concerns me greatly the town was full of baby boomers and young families and of course the hard working residents , if there was ever a major incident , I pity the injured. Oh! when we arrived into triage there was no one else in the waiting room, we saw a nurse within ten minutes but then a doctor was unavailable for well over 2 and half hours later. This is really very poor and not a good situation. At one stage there were 3 nurses near the desk chatting away, what a pity they dont have the authority to complete the patient care especially when you have what is a GP visit! that is sinus infection, a finger that needed a simple banage ect.
A wonderful journey to Australia's outback centre. Arriving by train from Brisbane was an adventure which captures the endless plains and parched paddocks of inland Queensland. There were numerous motels but most were well -booked in advance. The Cruise along the river at sunset followed by dinner under the stars was a truly Aussie experience. Longreach is the hub of the west surrounded by thousands of acres of large pastoral properties. Tourism is a major financial boost and the attractions well presented and managed. Glad I booked the QANTAS tour and The Hall of Fame with the Outback Show of horsemanship. I had dinner at a local pub and the owner was the courtesy car driver who picked me up, served me at the bar, and drove me back to the motel when I was ready. That's Longreach hospitality for you .!
Should be on everyone's bucket list, especially for Australian history buffs. The Stockmans Hall of Fame and the Qantas Museum are exceptional and are a credit to the town's community. Albert Park Motor Inn is within walking distance of these attractions.
The 2 maIn attractions are the Qantas museum and the Stockmans Hall of Fame (both must see) but a really good night out is on the Kinnon dinner river cruise, very entertaining as well as a good feed and photographing the sunset.
RSL for dinner highly recommended as talent show on a Friday night! Lamb chops recommended in sheep country. Qantas Founders Museum very good with restaurant recommended. Stockmans Hall of Fame and Longreach School of Distance Education a must do and don't forget the local bakery for coffee! If you keep travelling Age of Dinosaurs is recommended before Winton, then stay in Winton and eat at Tattersalls Hotel and coffee shops near North Gregory Hotel. Waltzing Matilda Centre is being rebuilt, also truck and vehicle museum and Musical Fence! Old movies one night a week! Then keep driving to Cloncurry where the Flying Doctor began.
Close to Airport and able to walk easily into town via the Botanic Walkway. Pleasant surroundings. Woke to Brolgas' in the morning. Had to check in and breakfast was at the next hotel which was not a problem to us but maybe if your limited in mobility.
Old style and feel to it property - really takes you back to Longreach Pioneering days. Comfortable and within walking distance of most places to visit. Great to sit on the porch with a wine and some nibbles when the sun goes down 😊
