Waimarie Apartments offers two 1-bedroom apartments surrounded by lush palms less than 1312 feet from pristine beaches. Waimarie offered a unique holiday experience with superb hosts who unobtrusively provided all that was needed and more for a perfect short stay on Lord Howe Island . The property was located in a stunning elevated garden with a view of the lagoon , Mt. Gower and Mt. Lydgbird . On arrival our hosts collected us and gave us an island tour for quick orientation . The apartment was spotless and spacious and extremely comfortable with attention to detail rarely seen in holiday rentals .Luxurious personal touches from the owners Peter and Sharon reflected their generous natures and their historic connection with their island home . Waimarie is an easy flat walk or cycle to the main square along the beautiful lagoon road . Our hosts provided nightly transport to restaurants and were a wealth of information regarding the island We had a personal barbecue area as an alternative to dining out with a choice of gas or wood fire . On leaving day a comfortable transit room with Shower and tea/ coffee facilities was provided which enabled us to enjoy our last morning before being transported to the airport . In short it was all wonderful!
Stunningly beautiful and, uniquely, uncrowded. Because of the limitations on visitors (400 maximum at any one time), the most beautiful places never had more than a handful of people, sometimes no one at all. It is so surprising that such an island is part of New South Wales. It feels like a different world. You cannot be disappointed by this island. The only caveat is book your restaurants in advance, especially for the bowling club (which has the best meals on the island!). Like the number of visitors, facilities are limited. They are also expensive. But well worth it. I stayed 3 nights, but I wish I had booked 5.
Certainly a place for adventure. It has everything that we enjoy snorkelling, diving, kayaking, sea trips, hiking and mountain climbing. you need to go with the flow in respect of the weather and just adjust.
A week on Lord Howe was a great experience. What a beautiful, clean, uncrowded place. Great coral viewing; so many birds; wonderful walks. We only had time to explore the north of the island so may head back at a later date.
Relaxing, great for nature lovers and those into outdoor activities, especially based around the beach Plenty of hiking and recreational options, great scenery. Not too hilly for those hiring a bike. The beaches and water are extremely clean and inviting.
Although a bit expensive to get there if you get the opportunity DO IT! A week at least. Loved the swimming and snorkelling from beach. Neds beach has honesty box for equipment. Very reasonable rates. Also did a snorkelling tour and turtle viewing. Missed our fishing trips due to large swell. Saw lots of bird life. Restaurants were reasonably priced. Groceries understandably costly. Fresh bread baked daily. Bike hire reasonable. A special place.
Lord Howe Island is an incredibly beautiful place the water clarity is excellent and the fish and coral are amazing. Ned’s Beach is the best snorkeling spot on the Island. You feel totally relaxed and safe. All the restaurants on the Island will transport you back to your accommodation after dinner however bookings for dinner are essential. There was nothing we didn’t like.
