Amazing location, very comfortable for family of 4. Have a sea view, balcony upstairs and terrace downstairs perfect for breakfast. Renovated kitchen, everything super clean. Just next to beautiful trail with rocks by the sea. Perfect cosy size, 2 bedrooms, heaters everywhere to keep us warm. Good hot spacious shower. We really enjoyed the stay.

The Exchange was by far the best of our stays in Tasmania. Gavin and Donna have beautifully renovated the gorgeous old building using materials from around the site. The majestic Huon Pine staircase leads up to the bedrooms and breakfast room. Breakfast is a vast selection of cereals, breads, yogurts, teas, fruit and herbal teas, instant and fresh coffee. Parking is on site too. Our bedroom was compact, quiet and super comfortable. You really don’t need anything other than a bed, a chair and a luggage table. Netflix is available too. The private bathroom is located just down the hall with quality shampoo, conditioner, handwash and bodywash and the MOST LUXURIOUS TOWELS ever. There are ensuite rooms available too and they are huge and not much more expensive. The bar, open certain evening, serving a great selection of Tassie beers and Tassie boutique gins (I had a fabulous tasting time 😊). Soo much old-world charm. Only 40 min drive to Launceston and 1 hour to Devonport makes The Exchange the perfect place for a stopover. Whilst you’re there visit Seahorse World, Platypus World and Beaconsfield Mine. Tasty Bite Indian across the road is great for tea and Jubilee Bakery for breakfast.

Beautiful location with views of the estuary and coastline.

Beautiful location with views of the estuary and coastline. No restaurants. Farmland around the area meant flies were in huge numbers making things very unpleasant when out walking. The small cafe at the museum was closed and looked uninviting.

Beautiful quiet location with amazing views. Well situated within walking distance of the penguin tours and the lighthouse. Fantastic museum well worth the visit on site as well as the cafe. Lounge furniture and tv could do with an update.

Penguin tour was good but restrictive and cold that night. Saw more penguins at Stanley on viewing platform and across noth coast area (Penguin Coast) No food other than what you bring with you for dinner.

It was a beautifully renovated cottage.

It was a beautifully renovated cottage. A good size lounge room and kitchen. The bathroom was extremely large with a great shower. The bedroom was lovely with a very comfortable bed and beautiful linen. One small issue was the curtain in the bathroom.

The place is nice but dont expect any support or refunds if something goes wrong. The smoke alarm started chirping at 1 am and continued all night. No one answered the phone after hours to assist. I was on a motorcycle road trip and had to ride tired for the whole day. The manager apologised but no refund or anything was offered. I recommend keeping clear of this place. Plenty of other options in the area.

Low head is a remarkable place to visit.

Low head is a remarkable place to visit. The history and beauty of this location is a must for anyone visiting Tasmania. The buildings and Maritime Museum are so interesting. The penguin tours are the best in Tasmania. Had a great stay!

fantastic historic location. cottages have been beautifully preserved and well maintained. They were sparkling clean, comfortable & warm and cozy. The museum and their fabulous staff made the history of Low Head come to life for us. absolutely amazing museum ~ it was a highlight of our visit to Tasmania. If the museum staff hadn’t been so friendly and passionate about the history of Low Head, we could have missed out on such a memorable experience. thank you sincerely Jane & Adrian Boys Western Australia

The Pilot’s House is where we love to take visitors. It’s beautifully positioned at Low Head and the property is comfortable and roomy. Josh and Georgie went above and beyond to make this a wonderful stay for us.

The location at the Pilots Station allowed us to stay in authentic accommodation at Low Head close to the lighthouse. It was comfortable and quiet and we had lots of room in the house.
